Just a heads-up: Has anyone been contacted by someone with the handle "boww" asking about a bow you have for sale? I think he's a scammer-- his PM is very similar to "bowM", another recent scammer. His PM contains a phone number, but no name. When you call the number, it rings and rings, then you get a message "the textmail subscriber you're trying to reach..." Same thing as the "bowM" scammer-- the phone number is tied to some texting-only service. Sellers beware.

I'm amazed they keep trying to scam us the same way it's great we have such a tightknit group here that lets everybody know when this is happening so the scamming gets stopped

I can't believe they try to scam something as pigeon holed as a trad bow.

From: Mpdh
Date: 17-Jan-17

It's not the bow that they're after. MP

From: Leathercutter

You know it might be fun to send one of these guys a "PVC" bow.

From: Tracker7

From: deerdander
Date: 17-Jan-17

Same here, been trying to deal with me all day with his broken english. I gave him the benifit but I think he's just looking for a scam

From: JusPassin Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 17-Jan-17

Yeah, I dealt with one awhile back who couldn't write a sentence and called me a racist when I backed off. What a joke.

From: vintage-bears
Date: 17-Jan-17

bow

Goes by James Evans, 104 Parmela Ave, Lumberton, NC 28358

I asked him of his info and he just sent it to me.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 18-Jan-17

Why would you spend money to send him anything...even a box of turds. He didn't lose anything that way and you did by paying for postage. That is not winning in any way, shape or form.

From: Flinger1
Date: 18-Jan-17

OkieJ, I have a bow on the way from a member who has zero posts here. Some guys have no interest in posting anything but sale items here and for good reason (sometimes).

From: Tracker7
Date: 18-Jan-17

Yes Flinger1... I agree, some real nice folks are here with no posts, I learned the hard way...I ignored a great guy because I saw no activity. Then we connected, had a great phone conversation, he is the real thing. So my take away is...always talk to the other party, only accept post office money orders. Conversation beats all the texting and email......oh and I wouldn't waste the postage on a turd....on the other hand sure would be funny!

There are 3 James Evans in Lumberton, NC. But no 104 Parmela Ave. In fact I could not find a Parmela Ave.

New scammer uses Treetop as his screen name.

From: vintage-bears
Date: 08-Feb-17

Probably same guy who uses screen name "Boww"

From: Clydebow
Date: 08-Feb-17

Most likely reason they keep trying is because they have probably been successful at it, but you don't hear about that, because the people that are scammed are too embarrassed to say anything here.

Do a search on "can scammers use your email" Lots of scary information there.

James Evans, I dealt with this scammer last fall from these classifieds. I told him my name and address which was both of the local sheriff. I imagine the sheriff got the money order in the mail from the bunk Bank. The scammer threatened me talking about he has friends at the FBI if I don't respond after he sent the money order.
