I am auctioning a superb bow to raise money for the Alberta Red Cross Fire Relief . Fort Mc Murray is a disaster , and the whole city of 100,000 has been evacuated . Loss is extensive . 100% of the winning bid will go to the Red Cross . The Federal Government and the Alberta Government will match the donation , so that means every dollar becomes 3 dollars. I will pick up Mail costs to anywhere in North America. Overseas shipping is prohibitive, so please don't bid if you are not in North America.

Monday Night at 10 PM Alberta Time the High bidder will be confirmed.

Border Griffin GL longbow 66" 50# @ 28"

http://peteward.com/2007%20new%20pages/test.border.griffon.html

This is the beauty you are bidding on. Border Griffin Longbow , All the specs and details are on the link above in the review. This bow is in excellent condition, and will come with the deluxe padded Border custom case.

I chose this beauty because the Cause it is helping is so important, and the Griffin should bring a good return . We have tens of thousands of displaced people left with nothing. Miraculously they evacuated close to 100,000 people with no casualty's. This picture shows the road out to safety. The fire is still out of control. Whole sub divisions are wiped out. Dig deep and thank you all. I will post some more photos .

I hate to see this sweet shooting bow leave . It is in excellent condition, smooth fast, and shock free. This bow has no glass in it. Border Carbon and beautiful veneers make it look and shoot incredibly nice.

I will post some links on how you can make a donation directly to the Red Cross Ft Mcmurray fund for those that want to help ,but don't have a winning bid in mind . Every dollar is matched by Both Governments.

I know we have many Trades people here. My Union Local 488 Plumbers and Pipefitters has established a relief fund , that is 100 % going to the Red Cross, and it is being matched by Governments also. This is an other option to donate and make your union aware of the crisis. http://www.local488.ca/news-and-events/ua-local-488-fort-mcmurray-relief-fund

This fire is immense, and still out of control , Another Hamlet has been damaged, Anzak has lost homes and it continues to spread. Building loss in McMurray is over 1600 .

This fire must be huge, we have smoke here from it and an outdoor air quality alert. I am in Minneapolis, it looks foggy outside

Any one know what the air quality is in norther Saskatchewan. In 2 weeks I'm bear hunting at Carswell Lake , about 6 hrs north of Buffalo Narrows.

I'm speaking only for myself. All with any feelings whatsoever feel for those whose lives have been upended by the fire. However, there are disasters everywhere and if we contributed to all the relief efforts for them, most of us wouldn't have much left. Superstorm Sandy here in NJ is a prime example. Then the floods in Texas, earthquakes in South America and Japan. Many decry government intrusion into our lives but sure are glad it's there when we need it. Your effort in this most recent disaster is most laudible and I applaud you. The residents of Ft. McMurray will get through this as have thousands before them. We are not uncaring.

Like living last fall all over again!

We in Northern California had the Valley Fire that destroyed 1300 homes, so we know first hand what it feels like. We had much support and that is what all these folks will need as well.

It takes a long time to recover. You are in the news for a few weeks, and then everyone goes home, but you are left with the devastation for a life time.

Our thought and prayers are with the fire victims!

Our next door neighbor broke ground yesterday rebuilding her house! It's been six months since the devastating fire.

By the way, there are a lot of Americans working in Alberta at any given time. There are so many that they have voting booths for them during US elections. It's abig happy family. I know my syster went down to the US for a few weeks to help out when they had those St Louis floods in 1993. But now that she has four teenagers she wouldn't have the time any more.

From: pete w
Date: 08-May-16

Thanks John. With the matching of donations the money grows fast. Several Stores are matching donations, then that is being matched by 2 governments. Your $600 doubles when it is donated thru a matching business or bank, then that $1,200 is matched by the province, and the feds. In the end it becomes $3,600 for Red Cross Fire relief.

They now think this was a lightning strike caused fire. It seems unstoppable now.

Wish I could bid on this one, Pete - we got flooded out in Sandy, 3.5 years ago and are finally beginning to stabilize... We didn't even lose much, but when things are tight to begin with, something like this becomes one of those "gifts" that just keep on giving!

Great idea and a wonderful gesture Pete. I was 1 mile from Border bows in 2006 and nobody in the towns of Gordon or Kelso knew of the company. Not one person. No signs and because the shop is s on an estate there could be no advertising or direction signs.I drove around and tried to find a phone booth with a directory but none to be had. My wife was becoming impatient with me so we pressed on to Edinburgh.I passed the driveway to Mellerstain house 4 times .Oh well. Hope there is more interest later today. But it is what it is.

Daryl McBride from Alberta Thank you for the winning bid. You are the owner of a very special bow. Thank you very much. and a big thank you to Leatherwall for allowing me to do this.
