Evening everybody, just a question , I have the bug to order a new bow, I shoot pronghorn longbows, and I am perfectly happy with them, love em, looking at the thunderhorn bows, and would like some feedback from guys that have them, thanks!

From: fdp
Date: 09-Jan-16

What are you wanting to know? Not many folks that own one are going to tell you they are junk or don't shoot straight.

I don't own one but I've shot several and they are about as good as there is. Duane has been building bows for a long time and he knows what he's doing.

I think his 3 piece takedown is one of the nicest takedown longbows going.

From: bowhunt
Date: 10-Jan-16

I thought he stopped building bows?Maybe not.

Anyways he builds a very pretty bow that shoots well. The Hearstoppers are beautiful.I have had a one piece and 2 PC.I like them.

The 3 PC is probably the nicest looking 3 PC longbow that I have seen.I have never shot the 3 PC.

I have one of his 2 piece LBs and it has been my go to bow for several yrs. I own a lot of bows and Duanes is at the top.

I have a Hearstopper coming soon, would like to see some pics of some.Anyone have any?

Excellent bows, just got my new Heartstopper TD in last week, birdseye maple/birdseye bocote, elk tips, stippled grip, matching Linx antelope quiver. Amazing craftsmanship, speed, cast, and overall shootability. Perfect grip. Cant go wrong with a bow from Duane.

had one it was a sweet bow

I am a recurve guy and I have never been able to get the feel for the longbow. I friend of mine had a Thunderhorn LB and man it sure felt good and shot real good. Just my little bit of experience with one was very positive.

Used to live a few minutes from Jessop's shop. Decent guy once you get to know him a bit. He makes some nice bows and knows his craft well.

From: BOWDAWG
Date: 22-Feb-17

Scott I didn't know he was still making bows? I just might have to see about another one.

From: knobby
Date: 22-Feb-17

I had a one-piece and thought it to be a really nice bow. Sold it to a friend and it's still going strong. His three-piece is on my "want" list.

From: ca
Date: 22-Feb-17

Had two Heartsoppers sold them due to draw weight reduction cause of shoulder issues. Great bows all around.Always wanted his 3 piece cause it looks fantastic and if it shoots like the one piece its a winner for sure.

From: bowhunt
Date: 23-Feb-17

I think I would put his 1 PC and 2 PC right up their with any other high end forward handle, hybrid style longbow.Had the 1 PC and 2 PC in 60" and 62".His Hearstopper is very beautiful.Thier an elegant and nimble bow. He's quite the craftsman.

Never had the 3 PC.But I have looked at them alot and drooled over the pictures.I am not a huge three piece guy.But that Thunderhorn three PC is superb looking.Probably my favorite 3 piece longbow aesthetically speaking.

Since I got my Thunderhorn I've been looking for another one and they are hard to find. The people who have don't let them go.

Honduran rosewood w/ zebrawood. No dye and will darken with age. Love Duane's bows!

I had a 1 pc that I bought used.....ordered a 2 pc, Heartstopper take down and it's been my go to and only longbow for over 15 years.. Have not seen or shot any bows that are better, although their are a few as good. You won't deal with a better bowyer or find any better bows. Good luck with your decision Tom

Just received this one last week, Custom, 60" 48@28" Birdseye maple/Birdseye Bocote, bamboo cores, elk tips, stippled grip, w/matching antelope quiver...fit and finish, superb. Artistic, Functional Longbow, that surpasses all in creativity. Duane is a pleasure to del with, along with Kim, and her quiver creations. Duane is only building a bow or two a year, I have waited for this one for some time. Never disappointed in a Thunderhorn!

Joe That is a beauty! Excellent grip too, leads to a great shooting bow.

From: Flinger1
Date: 23-Feb-17

Beautiful bows guys! I went with a 1 pic. to try and match what that feel of the one I bought from you Scott! I always thought the stippled grip was more for looks and was almost hesitant on having it down,,,,so glad I did!

Scott and Joe awesome looking bows. Only one or two bows a year wow that could take some time to get a new one. Anyone know of a used one for sale?

There was a 3pc that sold on another site last month.

My error in stating the one on the right I still have....its actually the one on the left that I still have. Its Cocobola and Zebrawood riser, Yew core limbs with Zebrawood veneers.

From: Archre167

I tried to get on his build list better than a year ago and he said he wasn't taking any orders. I would love to get a one or two piece. Bummer for me because I would really like one.

From: Red Beastmaster

My Coup Stick is 13 years old and still looks like new. Great finish. I was smart enough to get a 47# bow that is still within my comfort range.

I get a wild hair every once in awhile and think of selling it. Then a thread like this comes along and I realize I have a jewel that cannot be replaced.

From: nerd of the herd

I will get another coup stick someday. Met Duane and we pulled a few strings outside his place a decade ago or so. Heck of a guy and a great bow.

I have bought and sold over two dozen high end bows in the four years. I have never found a bow that shoots better or more beautifully made than the Heartstoppers. I have had 3 pc, 2pc, and 1 pc. I just put my name on the list for another. This one I recieved last month. It is a 62” with two sets of limbs, 52 and 45 pounds. Duane is a true artist!

From: bowhunt
Date: 21-Feb-18

Guys who buy Thunderhorn Longbows must major in photography. If you can shoot your longbows as well as you shoot your camera's you must be lightsout.I think Featherflinger64 is challenging joe vt for best bow photoshoots.

Handsome bows guys.Send me a 3 PC to try please!

From: Oly

Looks like he has some "in stock" bows on the website, but not sure if the site is up to date or not for these... says you need to call to place order... never shot one of his bows but they look very nice. www.thunderhornmfg.com

Just had this truly one of a kind Hearstopper built by Duane, made from my Dads hunting pants, incorporated into the bow, armguard, and quiver. Phenominal craftsmanship, Duane defines the term, "Master Bowyer".

From: joe vt

Oh my goodness Scott. I saw that on instagram and was blown away! What a special special longbow. That was a great idea.

From: Carcajou
Date: 22-Feb-18

It even has a camo string, camo silencers, and camo wrap on the connecting bar of the quiver. Im fletching some woodland camo FMJ's too.

As I admire and shoot this bow, it is amazing to see that talent that belies within the Bowyer. Duane is truly an artist and craftsman in the world of bow building.

From: BowAholic

wow Scott... I traded into a set of his/her Heartstoppers many years ago named "Pope" and "Young"... back in my heavy trading days. They are bows that I have thought about many times over the years... I'm curious where they are now. They were excellent in every way, but I do remember mine was a bit heavier than I shoot. Dwayne has some serious talent.

For you guys that have the 2 pc, what type of takedown system does Duane use?

From: bowhunt
Date: 23-Feb-18

The riser is cut in half downward through the shelf and out the side of the riser below. Its then fitted with posts that go into holes on the side of the riser opposite the posts. Both sides are pulled together with bolts that use an allen wrench..Its unique and as far as I know he invented it.I thought the engineering on it was pretty slick.

A few bowyers have closely copied it.Centaur and Timberpoint.

Scott, That's a one of a kind beauty, enjoy!

From: Carcajou
Date: 23-Feb-18

Thanks Pat, It shoots amazingly well, I am impressed with this one in every aspect of the word. This bow has both boo cores with pacific yew..super crisp upon release, and dead in the hand. Points well naturally. Fast too.

With the camo from my Dad, I honestly feel "connected" when I shoot and carry it. Its' hard to explain.

Scott, That's awesome, a memory maker with built in memories!

Enjoy it's a beauty for sure.

Sigh :(

My latest build by Duane, phenominal Heartstopper in every aspect. 60" 48@27" wild bocote, ziricote riser, stippled, bighorn sheep riser overlays and tips. Yew/bamboo cores. Duane knocked this one out of the Bow- Park with this one. Smooth, and fast.

I love my quivers by them. I have had their bows on my wish list for the last 5 years. This thread makes me want to put my name on the list now! Elk hunt this fall, and a few others things say otherwise. Just sweet looking bows!
