Here are the first arrows I've ever made. They are red osier shoot shafts with turkey feathers I found in the woods. They have pure silk wraps and quartz crystal indexers in the self-nocks. I'll post more about what I did wrong and what turned out ok in the red osier thread.

My wife's first cresting/fletch job. She used a paint pen and moved it along the shaft while the shaft was spinning to make the individual, uneven markings.

Bringing the first ARROWS of 2016 back up.

Was bored and wondering how brite I could make some arrows so a made these cedars. I have to fletch them yet. Properly go with 5 1/2" Shield in chartreuse and/or fluorescent lime. Should be no problem seeing these once I get them finished.

My Flu Flus.

I made up these 6 I am just getting started making my own wood arrows. I made 3 at first to see how they shot. 45-49 spine 30" bop shafts weighs alittle over 400grns. they are sitka spruce. I shoot 38# @ 29" draw.

This is my 3rd set (ever).

I think I may stick with this pattern as my ID, kind of like in the old days.

Here is the first set of arrows I've ever done. I started with Beman ICS Bowhunter 500s. I stripped the Beman logo stuff off after lining up the black replacement nocks with the stiffest spine. I built a DIY fletching jig and used it to glue on the feathers with Locktite super glue. I also made up a DIY cresting set up - just hand rotated. Painted a coral snake color pattern. Added 125 grain field tips that should be a good starting place to tune with my 47# Wing Thunderbird.

Oh yeah I also did up an extra arrow as a flu flu with natural turkey feathers and a different cresting. Here is the close-up of the set.

For spring Turkey. Poplar slightly barrelled. A bit colorful for turkey but I couldn't resist.

For fall big game. Acme shafts circa 1979. Tapered at the rear.

I built these for a friend who is going to South Africa on a hunt. He wanted something that resembled the South African Flag: Walla!!!

I do the sharpie trick too. My buddy gave me a ton of feathers but I like barred to so I just color in the black bars. Lol

Here's a stunning matched set made for me by (Dakota Kid) Mike Bush Jr. from over on PA. Hand tooled Tulip Poplar w/ a mild taper, self nocks reinforced w/ sinew,primitive luminocks, orange dyed and natural barred wild turkey fletching, Burnt Sienna enamel crown w/ white reflective band under nock, Texas Rat Snake Skin cresting, sinew hafted hand knapped stone points by Dan Hamblin.

All shafts marked with spine and total weight. Amazing detail in all respects. Pictures don't do them justice.

New heavyweights for Florida Lime. Douglas Fir footed with purpleheart...630 grains without points.

As usual outstanding work,too good for my arrows to be posted here, but I have some bamboo shafts on the way to me so I may post when finished (could be a while)! As its my first Boo's.

Here is a pic of my first flu flu, two full R/wing feathers cut down to 8", something shabby to look at !!! Shoots 20 yards then dies from 45#bow. Brian.

Here's a few I worked up recently.Blue one are dyed with Kool Aid. Red and black are the new GT Trad Classics from Big Jims.

Not as fancy as some but here are a few I just got done with. One is for a compound. The others are based off of the arrows Fred Bear shot form the mid 60s all the way the the 80s.

Such tremendous talent on display here. Its always good to see these arrow threads.

Here is a pretty neat way to store your arrows when you're done with them. Use a diffuser from a fluorescent light fixture( Ace Hardware, 14.95), makes 4 panels for 2 units. One 1" x 8" x 6' board will frame 2 units if cut to 1 1/2" wide. Sig9

Wing, those look as good as any posted on this thread. What makes an arrow spectacular to an individual is "digging" the color and pattern choices being used. But, once again your mechanics are really good. God Bless

Just some quickies I am making for my son.Hand made Douglas fir footed with Australian silky oak ,reinforced self knocks ,Chinese feathers and brass points.O still need to bind the leading edge of the feathers with polly thread.fletching them on my home made jig. OSR

They have a rough spray can finish.Is not my best but serviceable none the less.Going test shoot them a bitand send them off.He doesn't shoot well enough to get my best arrows yet.

Snake skin wraps on Herritage 250's,50gr brass inserts,200gr points. Total wt. 603gr.

Here is some I made for the wife 5/16" Douglas fir footed with mahogany brass target points 3" feathers and 1 flu flu.These shoot superbly but I carefully picked the wood I made the shafts from.Self reinforced Perspex knocks. OSR

...so here's my first batch ever. I bought the 2016 XX75 Autumn Orange shafts on line and all the rest from 3R. I cut the shafts at 28-1/2". I screwed the first couple up and by the time I got to #12 I kinda had things worked out. Next will be a dozen cedars and 3 spruce for flu-flus. May take awhile so don't hold your breath!
