I just spoke with Jim Gainey from Black Creek bows. I see several of you have posted pics and kudos in the past about his bows. I can not recall whether it was the siren TC or Banshee TD that had the higher brace height of the two. Also, I currently shoot a Timberhawk TD recurve and draw about 28 1/4". With his handles being fairly beefy in appearance, has anyone notice much of a change in draw length? I just want to make sure when I order mine, I get it right. Jim suggested a post this thread for input. Nice man, and he will see my money. Some of the pics are gorgeous, and I love the lines. Feel free to post your pics as well, as I would love to see some of his different woods. His website is still under construction, and thought some of you could help me make my choice. Thanks Much! Oh, btw, look what I found!

I plan on getting a 3 pc longbow real soon.Jim is a nice guy to talk with.He told me I would have it for this hunting season and I did. A man of his word.

I have had several of the banshees but I can't keep them long enough to get photos. At the Howard Hill shoot last year I got what I thought was the prettiest bow that he had, which just happened to be my weight range. Before I could get tuned or take photos of the bow, someone just had to have it. It's hard to keep a good bow from guys like the ones I know.

Jim's a great guy and makes a nice bow.

Nice bows I hope to have one of his take down recurves in the next year. Very nice bows.

As far as your questions go, I have two 3pc sirens and see no difference in draw lengths from my other bows, but I shoot a clicker on most of mine so who knows. Brace Height.. I think the Banshee has the longer brace height as it is more of a 'forward handle' than the r/d siren. I have no idea about the handles or brace heights on the recurves.

hows the pricing?

From: str8jct

I can't remember what they cost. When I got mine it was just under what I thought the 'average' was for a 3pc.

I got here a little late on this one, but had to post when I saw the thread. You can't beat Black Creek Bows, I have the 64" Siren 55#@28" and love it, I think brace height is a little over 8" on mine. Jim makes a great bow, the finish on the bows are outstanding and they shoot great. I talked with him last night for an hour on the phone great guy. I have a 1 piece Banchee 62" 51#@28" long bow that will be here in less than 2 weeks. While I had him on the phone I ordered a 60" 53#@28 takedown recurve from him. No matter which one you get you will not be disappointed.

i conpeated a few weeks ago at the KY state bow hunting asso. annual trad shoot held at the mercer county fairgrounds, witch i can say was a really really great 3-d shoot, why i was there i traded big jim of big jims bow company out of a 58 inch black creek long bow,, and i can tell you now in over 20 years of shooting a stick bow that this is one of if not the best shooting longbows i have ever shot in my life,i plan on conpeting at ETAR and the trad worlds and every other 3-d shoot the rest of the year WITH THIS BOW,, how do i get in touch with the man who makes these super bows and does he have a website yet, i got ta get me a custom job made,,, thanx,,ALPHAMALE

I believe Jim is no longer making bows, I have a set of Bear take down limbs he made that are very nice, he was great to work with. Good luck finding what you want

From: stickbow21

Jim hung up the bow making tools several years ago due to personal reasons.

Jim was a very good bowyer and great guy. I had several of his bows which include the sirens (one and two piece) and the Banshee's. I sold all of mine when Jim quit making them. GREAT BOWS.

Post a pic of yours alpha. I may recognize it.

Here's my 51# BC Banshee TD. I also understand Jim is no longer making bows. My wife owns a 35# Banshee longbow that is the prettiest, softest longbow I've ever seen or shot. I completely understand your fascination with them.

Jim was a good bowyer sad he gave up a good guy too. I had a few of his bows as well as he made me a pair of Bear limbs.

Hope Jims doing well whatever he's up to.Lord willing bless Jim Gainey.

From: Scooby-doo
Date: 21-Apr-17

Yup, he did and does make a fine bow. I had no clue he was up and making bows again. Hope things go better this time for everyone. Shawn

Jim sold all of his bow making equipment. As far as I know he is not building bows and not even shooting any longer.

I have a 46# siren TD longbow that is as fast as any of the recurves I have owned. I tried to contact Jim also with no luck, sad.
