I have two I just got finished that I'll have to get some pics loaded up for. LOL such nice bows. I have a real problem. I want em all. LOL You guys certainly have a right to be proud of them. I would like to see some better pics of the Black Douglas , perhaps the other side and close up of the riser. Ric-O Shay I am going to take a stab at the builder of that bow. I see an identifying feature that I personally love . Looks like a CheckMate to me.The flushed radiused limbs are a class act.

What is that finish on your bows? Looks like satin Thunderbird, sprayed on. I'm guessin' Brackenbury and T- Horn are usin' T-Bird? Those bows look like milk chocolate and caramel or some mocha latte cappacino or some kinda "death-by-chocolate" dessert. Real rich lookin'. NICE!!!

Part of the riser and the veneers for the limbs were made from Pomelled Zebrawood. The other woods in the riser are Cocobolo and Wenge.
The edge grain of this Pomelled Zebrawood had a light curly figure to it and when you look at it flat grained, it has very small birdseyes in it.
I was told when I bought it that it was fairly rare. I don't know if that is the case or not, but I know that I had never seen any before. I used the last pieces that I had of it to build this bow with.

At Kirks , KMc s request here is his new bow which I have not yet shipped him. Just finished it yesterday. Talk about a shooting machine!! This is a static recurve. The first after the prototypes which I have made. Curley maple riser with cocabola and Katalox , Curley maple , suigied limbs with static tips. This bow is 50 lbs at 28 and right at 53 at 29. 62 in. I really had a hard time quitting shooting it. It smokes an arrow and it is almost as quiet as the longbows without any silencers. I will post some more pics at Kirks request. He just got the pictures and asked me to post some on here. The Static Recurve is called the Talon. Steve

Great thread. Blacktail, Rose Oak, and Silvertip appear to be by far the best looking IMO with Morrison being the ugliest bow on the planet by far (my opinion only but you couldnt pay me 2 own a bow that ugly!!!).

Cacciatore thanks for the complimate Fred knew what he was doing thats for sure. Theres a 1959 Kodiak thats suppose to be in the photo, Bowdocs got it just about done. Its 60" and 55lbs with purple heart site window.So many bows so little time. We are just temporary care takers of these items anyway. But man its fun...

Those do look great many bows. I'm thinking about starting my own collection of some vintage bows. Right now I have above stingray and a PSE impala t/d to hunt with it. But I just got on eBay an old Impala made by Outdoor Sports MFG from Conn, I believe back in the 50's that I want to refinish and Im waiting on a couple of old pearsons I also won on the auction site for cheap that I'm planning to fix up. Old pearson longbow and beat up pearson colt 7070 that someone destroyed. I think I can fix it though, it'll still shoot so it'll take a little bit of work. I like my new bows dont get me wrong, but there's definitely something about those vintage bows.

Wow, talk about sensory overload. I have been doing woodworking for a large part of my life and have a great appreciation for the beauty of wood. I have never seen anything that expresses it like the bows showed here. I think I may have found my calling. I didn't know bows like these existed until I found this site.
