Ok, it has a cable instead of the band that goes around tree, never seen one like that. Maybe a newer model before they closedown.

I've got an old loggy but has the steel band. Thought this one would be better..safer.. the guy wants $150 he won't pay shipping so I ask to split shipping.. nope. So I decide forget it. He says its new.

my age and wt. I like staying on the ground there has been alot of close encounters and easyer setting up. I had the stand you do crow and then went to a summit viper site and climb way better and safer and comfort you could sleep in it.

It looks new, but you still need some type of climbing aid to get up the tree. Otherwise you will be hugging the tree, and that ain’t fun.

How much were they when they were new?

Bigdog21.. I've looked at the viper. Looks good. Got my hand climber to use with that one.But he cou l don't split shipping cost so. Poooeeyy lol

It doesn't look like my Loggy bayou. I don't see the safety strap that lock's the seat to the tree. wpab

Best stand ever! It’s the first model after the band. I took the seat off and bought the top half of the summit open shot. It’s longer than any summit which helps when I wear my Heater Body Suit.

The latch system is better then summits. I took the spring loaded pins out and put in spring pins like a ladder stand uses. This stand climbs very quiet!

i had a loggy bayou like that i bought it around 2003 or 4 i think but it was fully covered in mossy oak camo used it a while got a lone wolf and got rid of it

I also had one of the later models with the cable toward the end of their production. The thing that is throwing me is that my seat was a fully padded model that looked different.

I loved the old Bayou with the foot straps and climbing aid. The last ones made were made without the foot straps and it was an absolute pain to climb with it. The design was for the feet to catch the outside bar for climbing. This made the stand unbalanced and quite a few people bought the Summit Stirrups to make them work properly. I bought the stirrups and liked the setup even less than the original design. I eventually tried to use some of the parts off the new stand to re-condition the old one I had....and messed up both stands in the process.

Having said all of this, I can't be 100% certain that the stand shown is one of the last models they made in production; but I'm thinking it is. The stand may work great for you...just didn't for me

I see the foot straps now after that long disclosure. The one shown may work.

By removing the seat and toe bar i put my feet off of the sides like using the lone wolf.

Those are excellent tree stands

I have this model Loggy. It’s rock solid

Looks a lot my Summit. Seeing a picture doesn't tell you if it's steel or aluminum, that makes a big difference to me.

I’ve been using my Loggy since ‘88. I still hug the tree. I have two bi also have summits and ive had lone wolfs. I keep going back to my Loggy

From: bigdog21

I had a hard time using mine. like I was to close to the tree and could not get my knees up. once I was up the tree it was nice. but up and down was work witch= sweeting.

I became a Loggyaholic. Have 3. Haven’t climbed for awhile.

From: Yellah Nocks

This is the later XL model. Very similar platform to a summit. Weight was higher than the earlirr models. Steel band was a quieter altetnative to the band. You should have a hand climber with it. If you dont then it makes good sense to get a summit open front top and eliminate the seat, but....add a top to bottom stabilizing strap set up.

From: paul@thefort
Date: 25-Jan-21

I have the older Loggy with the steel band, climber. Do not climb with it any more. Use it now as a strap- on and use tree steps or climbing stick or extension ladder, to place it and then use a good ratchet strap to lock it to the tree. THe band is still in place when I first set it up but then add the ratchet strap. Light weight and made well.

From: Crow#2
Date: 25-Jan-21

Paul@thefort thats how I've been using it. I don't want the extra weight of ladder this coming season bu never know I might.Do you do this because you don't trust the bsnd?

From: HEXX
Date: 25-Jan-21

I did not know Loggy made a stand like this. Mine had all rubber touching the tree, which slipped. I dropped 4 feet before it caught, breaking my back and severely damaging my hip. After that I bought a Summit-no problems. I also heard more people get hurt each year using ladder stands then climbers, maybe because there are more of them, I don't know. Whatever you use be safe.

From: Live2Hunt
Date: 25-Jan-21

Hookedspur, I am the same way. I look at the new climbers but can't find one I like better than the loggy. This fricken getting old stuff sucks for tree hug climbing though. I would get a hand climber, but I don't want a 2 piece stand.

From: paul@thefort
Date: 26-Jan-21

Darly, "don't trust the band", that is a big part of the decision not to use it anymore as a climber. There had to be a reason the company discontinued using the band. The other reason not to use it as a climber is that, here in eastern Colorado and Nebraska where I use it more, most of the trees are Cottonwood and it is very hard to find a straight trunk or even a straight section of solid straight limbs. Using it as a strap- on makes it easier with climbing sticks or a light weight extension ladder. I used it elk hunting also sometimes but use screw in steps.

I read that climbing stands are the safest too that said I use ladders now. Lol
