Looking for Cari-bow owners . Seen them at the show this weekend. Thing about ordering a new long bow just looking for opinion.

Worst bow I ever owned.

Really?? Worst ever???

Please explain :)

A friend bought a new one several years ago. Shot it for a summer, & lost interest in archery. Started shooting again last spring, and it broke. I don't know any details, but I dout it was abuse. Can get the story if I see him, and pm you if you'd like.

That would be great. Like i said I was at the show this weekend and the check these bow out. Love the feel. But don't know much about the company. So I'm posting here on the wall. i'm just looking for some insight.

I owned a peregrine and at brace it would reverse on itself where the limb would colapse towards the string. I am sure you will get guys on here telling you they are the best ever, I'm sure they are for them, for me worst ever.

I've got two and I doubt that I will ever shot anything else!!!!!

Been shooting a Peregrine and a wolverine for a few years now. Excelent bows. I also have reviews on both of these bows on my site at www.peteward.com. Deerhunt51.. if you had those problems you did not have the brace height anywhere near what it should have been. Not the bows fault, thats operator error. Pete

Really? And for your next trick you gonna tell my fortune?

Oh just thought I would add, I do own a bow square and I do know how to use it.

Before I bought my first up scale bow I tried many, many bows at the Eastern tradition rendezvous. The cari-bow was the only one that forced me to wear an arm guard...Slapped my arm with each shot. Shot 4 arrows and I had enough. Others liked them but I hated them. Just my 2 cents from experience.

I have a Tiaga recurve. It's super in looks and performance. Abe knows his business. My only complaint is his shipping costs which he doesn't mention until time to mail. Go for it! Steve

I think you are wise to get opionions. There are a lot of great longbows out there. Just got a Wesley Special 68" long with string follow. Can't say enough good about it. Had other long bows in the shorter version, but didn't like them, and found them critical to shoot compared tothis one. Good luck finding one.

I have 2 1/2 Silver foxes and 2 Peregrines left handed and have had nothing but good luck with every one of them.Pete Ward is correct it has to be operator error.

DeerHunt51: Please don't share second hand stories especially when you aren't sure about the details. Any bowyer these days works so hard for their reputation and that can be ruined with a few careless words. Abe gives a three year warranty on his bows, that is more than most bowyers I am aware of. I am not at all sure how a longbow limb can "collapse" and "reverse on itself" and then do it again a second time? Did it not break when it did it the first time? Did you contact Abe and get it sorted? Sorry mate but it sounds fishy. No hard feelings from me, just putting in a word.

DLB : I just ordered a Wolverine longbow. So obviously I am biased. There are so many good bows out there. Find the one that gives you that "warm and fuzzy". Have fun.

They are among the best quality crafted bows I've come across and Abe is very nice to deal with. I've never heard of a problem until this thread and I'm sure any legitimate issue would be corrected promptly. There are many very happy peregrine shooters out there.

First off I owned the bow. I don't know where you got "not sure of details" and as far as explaining so you understand I don't think I could.

And besides my second answer to this post said might be the best bow ever for them, this was my expirence with one bow, thats it.

Think he meant me. Never said anything bad about the bow or bowyer, just stated fact. But I know what you mean. I wouldn't be afraid of one if it shot good for me.

One of the best longbows I have ever shot.

Not a LB, but I have a Taiga RC. Have had it for close to 1year. The workmanship is excellent, it shoots great, and is quiet. I've found Abe to be very helpfull, and the bow was ready when he said it would be. Would not hesitate to recommend him.

I have a Tiaga and love it, there are four of us on league that have them with no complaints. If you have a problem with the bow I'm sure Abe would take care of it.

UPDATE. My friends boy took the bow & was shooting it. Brought it back broke. He never got what he feels is the whole story. But doesnt falt the bow or bowyer, only his boy. Wanna keep a great reputation in tact.....

The guy who won the nfaa outdoor nationals last year (amtrad) was shooting a Cari-bow recurve. He said he got three P&Y antelopes with it, too.

Great bows. I have a tundra wolf and wolverine. Smooth quiet and fast. Also two of my friends have two caribow a piece also. Never had any problems with any of them. The finest craftsmanship out there. You can ask a opinion on any mamufacturer out there and you will get the same mixed opinions.

From: TRADARCHER
Date: 30-Jan-13

Well, there are many opinions. I had a Feathern Horn longbow....one of the best bows I had ever seen. Is beautiful, is functional, efficient and Abe Penner is just one of the best bowyers on the actual traditional archery industry. Some friends of mine put it down their BW´s and pick up a Cari-Bow. Belive me it´s a great bow. If it brokes you have to check the relationship betwen the amo lenght and the draw lenght. Abe make bows, beautiful weapons especially made for you.

I have a "featherhorn" R/D longbow, great shooting bow, hardhitting, very little handshock. I can't fault it at all.
