I like to customize my stuff and am thinking of a way to try to make my bow unique. Any ideas? Or if you have pics of your own customizations that woul be great.

I had new limb bolt bushings turned from brass. Pollished them well and let them dull on their own. Kind of Antique looking. I also had fancy bras tacks installed on the Muzzle Loader stock. very cool.

Some like checkered risers. Snakeskins on the limb backs. Camo paint jobs. I camo-ed the limbs on a Howatt Hunter but left the wood of the riser and the edges of the limbs clear. Awesome contrast. Frank

How about some type of inlay? Coin, arrowhead, ect.Rich

Any pics of your Howatt Hunter, Frank?

Pudgester, sorry, sold that Howatt years ago. It was easy to do. I just painted the camo pattern trying to avoid the edge and riser. Any paint that got on them was removed with lacquer thinner. Easier than taping. I used pine twigs with needles on as stensils. If you're using several colors spray the lightest first, medium second and darkest third. Frank

I just cut a coin from wood, polish it well, write bows name [every bow deserves a name] on it. Stuck on limb, close to riser, with sticky velcro. Also found a roadkill bobcat. Cut off the burr of some antlers, clear epoxied a claw on each, and sticky velcrowed them on some bows. Looks cool. Thanks, Roy

film dipping is an option. there are lots of patterns besides just camo.

Got this Zipper riser that had a insert hole for a stabilizer in it,so I filled w/ expoxy and stuck a turkey's beard in it.Looks kinda cool to me.

Have an authentic Indian bird point inlayed the riser. You can find the points on ebay. I had one and had a custom flintlock made for myself. The gunsmith tried to inlay one in my gun but it broke. The point was 800 to 900 years old. I gave him a 1889 silver dollar which he made a head out of it and inlayed it in the cheek piece.

I like the dye jobs a lot of people (e.g. J.D. Jones, James Parker, Vinson Miner, etc.) do on their bamboo bows. Here's a few pictures I was able to find.

This one is by J.D. Jones:

Here's one by Vinson Miner:

Here's some by James Parker:

You guys have some cool lookin stuff.

Michael, I used to leaf paint all of my hunting limbs almost exactly like that. I think it's cool lookin.

I love building, customizing, and personalizing my bows & arrows.

I did all of the wood inlays on this riser.

You can see the complete build along at the following link.

I think this one was made by Justin at Gi Bows. It's not bamboo, but I liked the stain job anyway.

After doing a lot of searching, using the wayback machine and everything, I finally found some old pictures of Vincent Minor bows that he used to have posted on bowsofwood.com, which no longer exists. Unfortunately, the resolution isn't good.
