Wondering what Bow you would most like to have...Kind of a "bucket list" of bows, I mean, if you could have a bow to hang on the wall, and save for all time, what would it be ?? After having my thread yanked (with no explanation) about a (?) Bow that I saw on (?), that I could never afford, was just curious, would you rather have one of Chester Stevenson's Bows, Saxton Popes, Art Young's, Howard Hills, Fred Bears, Glenn St.Charles, etc.. (these are just a few that come to mind...) For me, I dream about if I could afford the 1945 Nel Gumley & Fred Bear hook latch osage take down recurve bow static tip currently available, for your viewing pleasure on the Internet, just to see it in person would be awe inspiring... What (or who's Bow would you like to have/see ?)

I do not have any bows that I really want other than a very nice right handed 1960 Kodiak around 50 pounds draw weight that I can trade for BH678 so that I will have two consecutive number pairs of 60 Kodiaks. It would be great if I could pick one up for a couple of hundred bucks from someone who does not know what they have.

Now how is that for a Christmas fantasy?

I was wanting a Schafer Silvertip until I got one this past week.

I knew that did not sound right. I will trade it for BH668. I know where that bow is and just need a good trade.

Bear signed woodie A riser all set up the ones you see for like 3,000.00 out there not even sure what actual model that would be or what limbs but a purty one in the 40 to 50 range weights. Oh in a case too a collector item maybe they are more than the price above also?

Some day maybe? I think this my only actual bow dream.

For my viewing pleasure, a Pope, a Young, and a Compton! But, any one of them would do, if that were all I could find!

I have a 63 Kodiak dogleg in near perfect condition. It is a terrific bow, I shoot it almost every day and it is a heckuva bow as well as collectable.

Just purchased a Root Kadet, reversed handle longbow, 62", 47#. Green woven glass, looks to be a 1950's bow. Root bows were made here in Big Rapids, Mi at that time. Waiting for delivery. I've seen many Root recurves, but this is only the third longbow I've seen.

I'd like to have a Grumley,, there's nothin' else I'm interested in,,Picked up a '60 Kodiak last weekend and I'm satisfied with what I have. Went through quite a few to find what I like to shoot,,so these are it.

...oh, not much...maybe an English longbow that could be authenticated by the Smithsonian as one actually owned and used by Robin Hood. (if we're dreaming, why not?)

Been Jonesing for a Rocky Miller Heritage Recurve either 60 or 62 inches in 55 to 65 pound draw weight. I know there is one out there, probably stuffed away somewhere and not being shot. OR a 1961 Kodiak right handed 55 to 60 pound draw weight that doesnt cost 800 dollars. Woof.

Whatever it might be for me, it'd need to be at least 65#@30".

It'd need to be crafted and designed well so it cast a solid hunting arrow well.

It would also need to be a bow that was one I could continue to shoot and hunt with...whether it was an osage static by Earl Grubbs or an older yew longbow by Don Adams..:)Jim

I'd like an early 60s Damon Howatt Hunter in 45# like this one. I'm gifting it to my son in early Jan. Has the orange glass and rosewood riser.

Well the holy grail of a bow for me has not changed nor never will and that bow is a 1966 Root Gamemaster might not be that collectable to some but these bows are works of art to me.Maybe someday one will come along.Rich

Rich, post a picture of what your 'holy grail' Root Gamemaster looks like and I'll keep an eye out for ya..

What draw weight?right or left handed?

Will try to find a nice one ..I do see a few vintage bows in my travels and know some people..:) Jim

Of course, I'd like a 1969-71 Bear Takedown in A riser. However, since I can't afford one of those, I have my eye out for an Asbel era Bighorn -- TD or one-piece Grand Slam , 60 inches, about 50#. Bought several of those bows from Fred when he owned the company and let them all slip through my hands. Would like one now for nostalgia's sake.

I would like a 40-45# Howatt Catalina.

Red, that Hunter is beautiful, I have one just like it.

I bought a '59 Kodiak from LPN-1, and it is MY most prized bow. Beautiful on the wall, but twice as nice in the field!!!

There's only one bow I dream of. A Black Widow Crown Jewel. In the '80's I used to drool over the ads for them. Had an opportunity for one but it's a little to much weight. A left handed 45#er would make my dream come true. Frank

I think mine would be a Ben Pearson Bushmaster 2 piece T.D. To me it is a classic piece of archery history.

From: dire wolf

well, I wasn't gonna tell y'all..but my dream bow is a solid fiberglas Pearson Jet..about 40#s..like I had when I was 8 years old..It was a swirly green color..:) 'Bout the sorriest darned bow ever but I sure shot it a bunch..:)Jim

From: SportHunter

I have a few nice ones but I would like to get a few more like a '60 Kodiak, Cliff Coe laminated wood bow, old 50s hoyt.

From: Frisky
Date: 19-Dec-11

dire wolf: a Pearson Jet, 30#, was my second bow. Bought it at age 10 and killed a gopher and mourning dove with it. Taught my niece to shoot with it. They're up for auction a lot. Mine was yellow/white swirl.

This old Hoyt was custom made by Earl Hoyt as a gift to Art LaHa in appreciation of Art hosting their hunts at his resort back in the 50's. I took it off the shelf and shot this deer with it about 8 yrs ago.

Got a mint left hand 53# 76 SK, shot it one winter league, just hangs there, should be used but to pretty to hunt with, guess bows should be hunted with to be pretty. Might be time to move it and get something to hunt with.

Harleywriter, Those old solid fibergalss bows were almost indestructible..unless the glass got a fracture on the back and then they would self destruct without warning..:)Jim

i'd take a 50# '67 Kodiak hunter (rh), a "57 Kodiak, a '64 thru '67 grizzly same weight, or an early '59 kodiak made before Fred started putting the coins in them. only seen one of those in my life...

From: yorktown5

Having seen, owned or at least test fired most all the more popular vintage bows, there are a few I want back and a couple that I've yet to find in a lefty. That list would include: An early '60's K-Special in a shorter length (the top bow in Doug 77's photo above). A Shakespeare Super Necedah, and a '67 1/2 K-Hunter. Highly recommended (because I have one that qualified as a "keeper" already) are most any Howatt 58" or longer, Browning Explorers, Safari's, Wasps or most any 56" or longer Browning model.

"Well the holy grail of a bow for me has not changed nor never will and that bow is a 1966 Root Gamemaster might not be that collectable to some but these bows are works of art to me. Maybe someday one will come along.Rich"

Those come up for sale on eBay every now and then. My paternal grandfather was a dealer for Root in the 60s, and his preferred bow (which now hangs on my wall) was the same one of which you speak. They were works of art, and shot as nice as they looked.

From: reddogge Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member

Funny, I had a '66 Root Gamemaster I received in a trade deal for a'67 Bear Grizzly around '68 or so. I hunted with it for a year but wasn't in love with it so I traded it for a Damon Howatt Super Diablo. It's just been the last couple of years I had to have one again. It does shoot nice and is an unusual looking bow.

Rich, these things pop up on the auction sight on occaision, just keep your eyes open.

I keep an eye on them alot for these bows and as luck would have it always miss out on them.

From: kosch

Believe it or not, I have a Tomahawk recurve made for me by Dale when he was still in Wisconsin. The year was 1996. Would this be considered a collectable bow? This was before he made his first longbow, which I was fortunate enough to try out.
