I'm pretty new here and I have seen some pretty cool threads with some really nice pictures of where everyone hunts. If this has been done before I am sorry but I thought it might be cool to see other peoples cabins, tents, trailers, etc., of what they call home base when they hunt. I guess I should start first. This is my cabin. My Grandparents got it in '41. I've been going there since about '64 and now my kids come with me. this picture is about 5 years old but it shows it well. Once you drive to the lake, you have to cross the lake and then there is a mile and a half hike crossing a beaver dam to get there.

Sort of a correction. That was how I use to get there. This is how I get there now. Much easier. Once in there though the machine is never used. We hike and walk everywhere and only use the argo to carry all of our gear. That is my son at the wheel and the sauna (a separate log building from the cabin).

Yep, this has been done before but it never gets old to me. I love seeing other's cabins. Here's my little cabin near the Porcupine Mountains in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A little piece of Heaven to me.

Twisted--there's a whole bunch of us salivating at your cabin pictures. If it's not too personal, keep us updated with pics as you progress on the cabin. May your first uninvited guest be a six-pointer.

Why a cistern? Bad, or no, water?

This is Shrewhaven Lodge in Michigans upper Peninsula. Originally built in 1936 of Tamerack logs it is still very sound. Gas lights and wood heat and no running water. It sits 1/3 mile off a Railroad grade road on 400 acres of private land.

Guys - beautiful places loaded with both dreams and memories. I miss the old days when our group was together. We had a great camp in an old farmhouse in the mountains in Pa.

We had it all - Lousy food, wicked coffee, great hunting, and even better comradery!

Make sure to record your camp history. We didn't and wish we would have.

here's on in my folk's "cabin" in Northern Mn on the edge of the BWCA

I kinda miss the old place where we had a hand pump in the kitchen and used an outhouse. But this place is nice too. Just worried I won't be able to afford the taxes one day when its passed on the kids.

The buck over the fireplace I shot. Birchbark canoe was made by a local Ely guy. i took it off the wall and took it out for a paddle. Its a hunting model but it sure was tippy.

We live in this one year around. 24x32' with a loft over 1/2 of the living room and a 15x24 master bedroom, also up stairs....about 1100 sq ft and fine for the 2 of us. This is a rare snowy picture as actually it does not snow all that much in SW Wash.

13Kodiak, I thought I had located all my long lost relatives =) It is remote but not so remote we cannot get there after church on any given Sunday. About 30+ miles from town, two miles off pubic road. We can drive to the cabin May through November, the rest of the time we walk/trudge/ski 2 miles from the public road.

My pal and fellow Leatherwaller, Wirehair, owns this place in Wisconsin. He must be hard up for friends because he's invited me up there a few times to hunt ruffed grouse and woodcock. Even after my black lab crapped on his kitchen floor, we were still invited back!

Man, just looking at this picture again makes me want to point the truck north.
