What a nasty looking head! Could that be an arrow from an old flight bow?

I know they use 1/2 size arrows even on bows of 180#.But 5/8 in diameter.I guess simmon must be getting ready for flightshooting.

Impressive!
Here I attach the pics of another war arrow replica which was given to me as a gift by Steve Stratton, a traditional bowyer and archer in England. He was shooting this arrow from a 120 pound yew ELB. The bodkin head is forged and its tip was heat- treatened for extra hardness by another English enthusiast.
You'll see a 29'' arrow with 4'' fletching with another bodkin-type head next to it. This is one of the arrows I used in a piercing test. It is a bit over 500 grain. The differences between sizes of all components are really dramatic! With the smaller (regular size) arrow it's possible to easily pierce a steel sheet of 2 mm thickness from 16 m distance (56# Grozer Turkish hornbow). I can't imagine how this big guy would act when shot to an armor.

Wooly Mammoth? Hech that thing could bring down a T-Rex, LOL!
If you look at the head on the arrow Mr. Day is holding, you'll note it says 101 grams. The equivalent of 1558.7 grains, or 3.6 ounces. I just couldn't emagine what it would be like getting hit with anything like that at 300 yards. It must have felt something like being hit by a very pointy freight train.

AWESOME!!!!This stuff is the very reason I got into archery in the 1st place, grew up reading everything I could find on ancient warfare,to this day it still gets my blood pumping! Now if I could just get one of those babies to fly good out of my 51 lb bow for the 3d shoot tomorrow I'd be stoked!
