It's a work in progress, but good enough to display like it is. :-)

Dang. Looks pretty sizeable!

Definitely a Man Cave item :D

I have one done in a full shoulder mount. I think the taxidermist embellished the tusks and the tongue is plastic, but I still like it!

Statement piece for sure, should get a lot of attention.

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 24-Apr-24

Hey Mark.

Yeah, I'll never pay for a shoulder mount again. I like them, but my money is better spent elsewhere now days, and I kinda like euros anyway.

I've seen them done with the tusks pulled. I usually know it right off when I see it. I made sure these were bottomed out in the socket when I glued them. No embellishments here.

My skulls are in my basement bowroom. A javelina skull looks exceptionally wicked.

Yeah I hate when they put fake tushes in them.

If you put my MIL skull next to that skull, the hog would grow legs and run.

From: pdk25
Date: 24-Apr-24

That's a big old skull Rick.

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 24-Apr-24

Pat, he was in the 225 to 250 pound area, but I didn't weigh him, so don't know actual weight.

From: Tim Cousineau
Date: 24-Apr-24

Yep, that would definitely be in my shop!

From: Corax_latrans

I’m with you on the Euros, Rick! I always thought I’d want one nice specimen of each species— if I were ever to get a nice enough specimen…. which I have yet to do, really. But I don’t regret not having spent the money, especially since we have nowhere to pit one anyway ;)

I don’t feel too bad about my DIY Euros collecting dust in the garage, but I’d be kicking myself pretty hard over a shoulder mount! Just seems like a lot of funds to have tied up. Just seems like a lot of funds to have tied up. I guess I figure there are a lot more memories to be had in the trips and licenses which could be paid for with what you would spend on taxidermy to preserve memories of a hunt you’ve already taken.

I had two pigs mounted but with the rising costs of taxidermy euro mounts are looking better and better.

I even did a couple euro mounts on bucks I killed. Euro mounts can be made to look really nice. I've been thinking about learning to camo dip so I can do skulls.

From: Sasquatch73

Folks are painting and dipping to make more Art like. All kinds of things out there these days.

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 25-Apr-24

This one needs more cleaning, but to be honest - I like the natural look way better than I do the bleach white look.

Natural enhances contrast, and to me "contrast" enhances the image.

I like the film dip stuff too. That adds lots of "contrast".

Besides camo dipping another option is scrimshaw like my tusk I won at a PBS Banquet.

From: Nemophilist
Date: 25-Apr-24

My buck euro is natural. No bleach used. It cleaned up really nice.

"Well, this thread will be axed as soon as the video is discovered. Embedding of anything (including video) is no longer allowed."

Is this a new policy?

I didn't see anything regarding this when I clicked on and read the "Terms and Conditions" located at the bottom of the page just now.

From: monkeyball

Per Phil, April 14th...."We've all seen times that folks use HTML tags here for italics, bold or to embed links. Pat posted on the Bowsite main forum that this is not permitted. Here is his post -

"We don’t allow people to embed html tags into their posts. Two reasons: if you don’t close your tags properly the entire topic gets bolder or underlined, etc. It can also be used for malicious attacks.

If we see it, your post will be removed."

It was on Bowsite Jim. I was not aware of it either till I talked to Phil about it.

"Embedding of anything (including video) is no longer allowed."

I didn't know that.

From: Nemophilist
Date: 26-Apr-24

No wonder I didn't know about it because I very rarely get on the Bowsite.

Thanks, Craig.

From: Supernaut

10 4, thanks for the info Craig.

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Apr-24

I don't get it myself, because if you go over to Bowsite and take a look at things, there are lots of you tubes embeded just like Franks.

I'm not sure why it can roll over there, but I don't own the site either.

You can share a hot link in your posts/replies by using the site feature of "Embed a Link"

Bowsite is a totally different, more secure/modern platform. There’s a lot you can do over there that you can’t do here.
