I just bought this 55" Bear Kmag, and I'm in love. I shoot it as well or better than any bow I've owned (which is just a few. A super K, Cheyenne, and a longbow). It has heavy reinforced limb tips, and matt finish black limbs with gold silkscreen, which makes me think it's a newer bow, maybe 80's or 90's, as well as the tan/gray/green color combo is uncommon, and reminiscent of the commemorative bows from about 1990? However, the serial # is KMxx76, which could be construed as a 1976. That just seems early to me. With the heavy limb tips, I'm tempted to get a FF string, but it shoots well with the dacron string that it came with.

Correction: 55lb, not 55". Typo. Tips are about 3/8" thick, reinforced fiberglass.

Thanks. Has the Gainesville address, so definitely post '78.

They are great little bows. My weakness is the mid-70s greenies. I have 3 of them right now, 40, 45, and 55#.

I like the greenies also. I might get a 40-45# down the road and see if I shoot it any better. I've never had a bow lighter than 50#, so it might surprise me.

The KM-serial numbered Kodiak Magnums with the two tone (brown and black laminated maple risers) were made from 1996 to 2010. Not much (if any) difference them years. Except from 1998 to 2003 which had the brass Fred Bear Equipment Company (Fred Bear Bust / aka: Freddy Kruger) coin (pictured).

Awesome! Thanks for the info! I'm going to order a FF string for it then. Just curious, does anyone know what year they started building them with FF strings? Was it in the 80's?

What is the serial number? The newer serial numbers contain a date code. Not sure if that is new enough or not.

KM-1076. Either a 1996 or 2006?

It has the Freddy Krueger coin, so is 1998-2003. Thanks for the info everyone, this site is really helpful.
