Back shooting again after long down time .So as someone who’s not sure if I handle a bow again , I decided to purchase an ilf with 35# limbs. My draw is 26” -bow is 60” cut past center shooting off the shelf .3 fingers under. My arrow is a carbon legacy 700 cut 27 3/4” carbon to carbon with 50 gr. Insert with 145 points - total weight is about 410grains . After 2 months and doing well physically I now have a set of Gobi 40# and need new arrows - I cut the 700’s to 25 3/4” carbon to carbon with 125 grain points and they fly well but want more weight. They weigh about 341 gr. - good for target ,fast. I would like to be around 450 -475 gr. for hunting but I do not want a long arrow .I like to be 27 1/2” - 28” . I was thinking Big Jim’s 600 arrows or should they be 500’s for what I’m looking for. I am a wood guy looking for suggestions from carbon arrow folks. Thanks in advance

I would call Jim, or send him a PM on here and ask him to be quite honest.

600 spine is very versatile. The coated shafts weight more.

You don't need 450-475 gr arrows with that set-up for whitetail. I killed several large bucks with 40#@ 28" drawn to 26" and 385-400 grain 600 spine carbon arrows. I Always got two holes, sometimes even buried in the ground after going through the deer.

Rooty is right. I shoot 38#-42# bows with excellent performing limbs and 600s work fine with 150 grain points. I cut them 28 3/4” long and use Big Jim’s shafts (420 gr), Easton Carbon Legacy (410 gr), and Goldtip Traditionals (430 gr).

It’s all relative of course, but I think you will be better off with the .600 spines. 500’s are going to be real still at your preferred length and bow weight They may be able to be made to work, but you will probably need to put a LOT of weight up front.

I have a 26” draw and shoot a lot of 600 and 700 spined arrows that are usually 29- 30”.

Call or PM BIG JIM! Maybe a PM or an e-mail would be better where You can LIST all of the STATS on Your current set-up?? A Phone call might lead to missing something important?? BLESSED BE!

thanks everyone I emailed Jim and will see what he says .I think 600 is where I need to be .I think deerhunt51 nailed it with his past experience which was very valuable information.
