Gonna try the ground game this year. I have two ghillie suits that work great and I use them later in the season. Anyone have a recommendation for a leafy suit top that is cool?

I've been looking into them as well. Bushrag and Rancho safari are a couple I've been looking at. Bushrag has a light series and a bowhunter version,Rancho' may be a little heavy for what your looking for but the quality is there. I read a couple of past threads on the subject, check them out as well

I have the ASAT leafy camo and it keeps me cooler in warmer weather.

It really doesn't matter. They are all pretty well the same. The most important thing is to get something that will match the colors in your hunting area.

The early season deer woods in Central Texas have completely different colors then the early season deer woods in West Virginia.

I been looking for something myself.

I have a Rancho Safari ghillie. It's the best. Are you saying they make a leafy suit

I bought one from Field and Stream a couple years ago for $40 pants and jacket with a hood and face net combo. It can be worn without the hood and face net. It is made of very thin material like mosquito netting. I wear shorts and a T-shirt under it when it's hot and can wear warmer clothes under it when it gets cooler. I recommend packing it in to your stand, it weighs next to nothing, and then putting it on when you get to location. It will pick up burrs if you walk around with it on. I really like it.

For a thin one I’d think the hard part would be finding green. Not that it’s necessary but if your gonna go through the trouble? I have the Rancho Safari and it can be warm but I wear it spring turkey hunting. I also carry it in. Try all predator.com

Smokedinpa, I was a little concerned about the lack of a vibrant green in my pictured leafy suit for early season here in PA initially but it didn't seem to matter as much as I thought it would. Just my experience on deer and turkey.

Question1 to Fred Bear - "What is the best color/pattern camouflage?"

Fred - "Sit till"

Question2 to Fred - "I know, but what is the best color/pattern?"

Fred - "Don't move ... "

I love my North Mountain Gear leafy suit! It's very well made and does a great job of hiding me from turkeys during the spring season.

Dave the North Mountain Gear leafy looks like a good value. I’ve looked at those as well. In case anyone can’t tell I like gear! :)

X 3 on the North Mountain Gear suits. I own 2 of them. One green and one brown.

I really like the looks of the North Mountain Gear leafy suits. I like the added features of the zippered pockets and zippers on the legs. I'll definitely check these out when I'm ready to retire the Field and Stream or sooner.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

I have a nice pull over mossy oak Leaf suit but to me the leaf suit Just don’t seem to break up the human outline enough.

Since deer don't really see color just what or who are you trying to hide from?

Seriously guys, did a ton of research on this back in the 80's. Did you ever take a black and white picture of a white tail deer in the "red" summer phase standing in a field of green corn?

You won't be able to find it.

Gillies do work well for deer, but not because of the color.

If you plan on using it hunting turkey, another whole ball game.

That’s funny South!

In case anyone is interested there is a Rancho Safari long coat on Archery Talk for a decent price.

For those that use the North Mountain suit how warm is it? The website says the shell is solid. Does anyone use it in warm muggy weather? Thanks.

ASAT two thumbs up.

Take a good look at that suit Jim is wearing . I have 3 sets of them and they are all bleached out and look like that suit.

I was going to try to color mine to see if I could match the green early foliage?

If your on the ground you might look like a pie bald deer moving about. LOL

I stopped wearing all mine for the bleached out reason.

I have had ASAT, clothes-not 3d suit, bleach out after several years in the Az sun. In creeks(washes) with grey trees and shrubs, not as effective anymore. Too much contrast. I lost confidence.

South. I'm afraid that suit will make my butt look big.

I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t hide you near enough either

Same as supernaut. For the money it’s a great suit and agree with how light it is and would carry it in.
