Herbie PMed me and reminded me that the goose feathers should be falling. I find them, yearly, starting on or around June 4th. Start watching your city parks!

I'm on it. But I won't be going to a city park for them. You sure those aren't pigeon feathers you're collecting?

With COVID-19 and all the civil unrest going on, everyone please keep us informed on any 911 calls you hear about to Minnesota LEO regarding a crazy man harassing geese in the city park! Just kidding, prayers for your mom....and you too if you have trouble making bail.

My chickens are molting too.

I go over to the Golf course for my goose feathers. Lots of geese spend a lot of time there.

From: George D. Stout

It's that time of year. Hope you get a bunch Joe. Our chickens are also molting, but the rooster will be going in the pot this week. I'll still have ten hens that keep us well supplied with eggs and one less crazy bugger that wakes me every morning at 4:15AM.

I might try chicken feathers next.

Wish I had some geese in my area just for the feathers.

Any domestic geese with white feathers around? Those would probably be the best? BTW? Are we talking the PRIMARIES? BE SAFE / WELL & BLESSED BE! Batman PS? Frisky's MOM is HOME NOW! Trying to recover from the Hospital.

If ya want white goose feathers get in touch with any snow goose guides in your general area. They generally can get you some feathers or know who the "pickers" are and you can contact them. The snows have a bunch more oil in their feathers then domestic geese.

I can't fish yet because of my back injury, but I take a ride to my home town lake every day (Keystone). Yesterday I picked up 4 grey Goose feathers right at the dock.Never made arrow fletching with them before, but now I will give it a try,and stay on the look out for more.

I already filled up a bag from the mated pairs who are fertilizing 'my archery range', aka the mowed area along the river. We had significant rain last week and the river was raging at the top of its banks for several days and the Mama and Papa geese got their broods up on the bank for several days in a row. The golf course across the river re-opened and that sent the daytime geese over to my side. I'm thinking of making flu-flu's and stumping arrows.

Stykzz grinds goose feathers just as well as turkey feathers!

I gathered about three dozen this morning from the parking lot at my lake. Not as rigid as Turkey wing feathers.More like Turkey tail feathers.

I have some swan feathers if interested. Just need an address to send them to. Matthew.

Nice gesture Matthew. Have you used them for arrow fletching?

From: South Farm
Date: 05-Jun-20

Judging by the parking lot they're pooping too!

From: Herbie
Date: 05-Jun-20

Poop doesn't work as well on arrows as it does in pubic...in general but we could ask Frisky.

From: Herbie

Just kidding and it was not meant to start anything!

Yes their is poop every were. You have to watch were you are walking along with Horse poop from the Amish that frequent that lake every day, and won't clean up after their Horses which many of us think is wrong, and litter all the time. If your dog poops their you have to clean it up, or pay a fine.

I'll get a pic of my little haul and post it. I usually get 100 plus feathers but not this year. I have 100s I have to process.

Batman- This 1st trip out, most are primaries. I do pick up nice secondaries, as they work great too.

100's to process. You better get at it.

LOL! I turn them all into 5" fletches.

As a kid here in the wonderful Irish Hills of Michigan we did an annual goose roundup. Had black trash bags of feathers. You wore your old tennis shoes and threw them away at the end of the day. Around here we hate geese.

I was just telling Herbie I had to wash off one of my bike shoes and my front tire when I got home. If you're gonna get goose feathers, you'll have to wade through goose droppings. That's just the way it is. It's not an activity for all the well-groomed sissies we have running around here, wearing their little tabs.

I've never processed Goose feather. Is it any different than Turkey feathers? Truth be told, I didn't always do a bang up job on Turkey feathers. Sometimes too hard with the sandpaper and sometimes I didn't go hard enough.

From: Frisky
Date: 05-Jun-20

I just rough them out, so goose and turkey process the same for me.

I have a bunch a friend gave me, Im looking for some special shafts to fletch maybe some barrel tapers . Goose feathers are not as stiff as turkey and snow goose primaries are not white but about the same color as honkers .

Be carefull. Don't sell any goose feathers. As I understand it, I also believe you can't sell arrows made with them. they are protected under Federal Migratory bird laws.

From: Herbie

Holy cow, 46 more goose feathers yesterday!

From: Buzz

Keith you are correct.

I shipped some in a trade years ago and they where seized at the border.

From: Frisky
Date: 18-Jun-20

I got a dozen or so and quit due to happenings with my mom, but I have many to process. My goose fletching is actually stiffer than my turkey fletching.

Hey now Joey just when did you get a turkey? LOL

You are a Turkey Joe. LOL

Hey Joe told me to keep things riled up. LOL

I did like the Indians did, for many centuries, I picked up the turkey feathers when they were molting.
