It's done how ever you want to do it to get the affect you want. There is no right or wrong way.

I have no idea how the feathers are cut to make arrow fletching and have no desire to go there but , to those who do , I'd be happy to pay shipping for the leading edges of primary flight feathers after splitting just to get the leading edge biots that are too short for fletching. They make some terrific body material for fly tying , especially the longer ones.

A common way is to cut the quill with a 1 inch or so slice, similar to the way you'd cut for a quill pen, then fold it over and tuck it inside itself with a bit of super glue. You now should have a loop at the end of the quill to tie to.

You could just do a wrap like a fishing pole with waxed B50 or any heavy waxed thread to connect it to a pc of lacing? Thats what I`m gonna do for my back quiver.
I made a loop of elastic and tied it off like that on my hip quiver. I might just have to add a couple small feathers!

I wrap mine with artificial sinew and a slip knot that enables me to attach it to just about anything. They do have an example on youtube. I then give a painted coat of epoxy over the wrap. Jon
