TwinOaks had a meeting yesterday and voted to host the IBO Traditional world again, we are excited about doing it. Their will be a few changes in the way we handle things to try and keep everyone and safe as we can.No major changes but a few in how we register, where we set and how the food is handled. Hope all are ready to come out and have a big time shooting, I know I am.More info as I get it. As for now just start making plans. Pappy

From: Pappy 1952

Sorry date, Hunter challenge range opens noon on the 16th July and runs through 19th July.Info on motels and such are on our web site[twinoaksbowhunters.org] For anyone that is interested their is a new motel opened at exit 24 off I24W. It is only 6 or 7 miles from the club. I should have a code up in a few days so you will get a discount on your room if attending the event. Pappy

From: Clydebow
Date: 31-May-20

Happy to say I don't need any codes! LOL!

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 01-Jun-20

I hear ya Clyde but a lot do seem to stay in Motels for this one for some reason and I am glad we have a nice new one very close by. Pappy

I’ve been wanting to come to this but it seemed like something always got in the way. This may be the year though. What’s the camping situation?

From: dnovo Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 01-Jun-20

Is there plenty of room for campers if I don’t get there til Thursday of Friday. ?

Sure, plenty of room. Pappy

Hope to go this year Twin Oaks is the best group of archers I have ever been around and the venders are great!

From: Big Dog
Date: 02-Jun-20

Glad to hear it's on. Me and Julie will be there. Regards

From: Vaguely
Date: 02-Jun-20

I will be there with at least a couple of buddies!!

From: M.P.
Date: 02-Jun-20

I hope the Pappy burger is still on the menu. Still pulling for the Pappy bacon biscuit for breakfast .??

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 02-Jun-20

Probably be no breakfast but if I can buy the supplies Pappy burgers will be on the menu. We will have snacks and such for breakfast and plan right now is to be open for lunch from 11-2 or maybe 3 depending on supplies.Stuff such as burger is still kind of hard to get in big amounts. That's great Jim, always good to see ya. Pappy

How is this shoot different than the Tenn Classic

From: Clydebow
Date: 03-Jun-20

Matt, The main shoot is more regimented. Double scoring, assigned groups, and shotgun start. Novelties, Hunter round, etc, are more relaxed.

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 04-Jun-20

What Clyde said. Pappy

From: eddie c
Date: 04-Jun-20

So on the Hunter's round, 3 buddies can shoot together, enjoy themselves and not get busted up into different groups?

From: Tradarcherychamp
Date: 04-Jun-20

the hunters round still uses the ibo classes and stakes, but you are not in assigned groups, you do still double score and you can shoot the course more than once

From: eddie c
Date: 04-Jun-20

Thanks, Julia. I will probably be in the situation where a couple of buddies want to come up and shoot but don't want to get busted up into different groups.

From: THarris
Date: 04-Jun-20

Yeah Eddie, but, if you declare the bow you are going to shoot in the Hunters Challenge, you really need to shoot THAT bow. Just a FYI.

Terry Harris

From: eddie c
Date: 04-Jun-20

Thanks, Terry. That's not a problem since I grab my selfbow all the time now anyway.

From: straight as wood
Date: 04-Jun-20

Does the championship part of the shoot start on Saturday?

From: Bownana
Date: 04-Jun-20

You are allowed to shoot as many different classes or as many different bows you want to shoot on the Bowhunters Challenge course. However, you should chose the bow you shoot the best for your first round, as that is the score that qualifies you to compete in the Showcase Shootdown. The top 16 from the orange stake, top 16 from the white stake, and top 16 women qualify to compete in Saturday evenings, 3Rivers Champions Showcase Shootdown for over $2000 in cash/prizes.

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 05-Jun-20

Laying out ranges today and tomorrow, quite a challenge for us to lay out 2 30 target courses with out a long walk but we will do the best we can. Also secured the burger and some supplies for the kitchen yesterday, man meat has went up, I am use to my venison burger, beef is high. Yall have a great weekend. Pappy

From: eddie c
Date: 05-Jun-20

Thanks for the info, Bownana. I doubt I'm good enough to get in the top 16. Everyone that's been around me knows I'm a fun shooter first. Pappy, Diana has been isolating herself due to her risk level and hasn't been to the store to see the beef prices lately. When I told her a couple of days ago what the local price of ground was I thought she was fixing to go vegetarian on me. Lol

From: Clydebow
Date: 05-Jun-20

Everyone has there own definition of fun. We have as much fun shooting the IBO course as much as the Hunter course and any novelties. It's all good.

Eddie, Will you be camping at the same spot?

From: eddie c
Date: 05-Jun-20

"Everyone has there own definition of fun." This is true. As far as camping, not sure at this point. Diana will have problems handling the mid day heat and I would have to run the genie 24/7 for the AC. She hasn't committed to going yet. I may have to just make a day trip with a couple of friends.

From: longshot
Date: 06-Jun-20

I cant wait! Was going to fly in and camp light but my wife has decided to come with me and doesn't want to fly so we're driving and staying at the new Hampton Inn close by. Whatever! I am very much looking forward to going back to Twin Oaks sporting my new Timberpoint. It'll sure be nice to get back to some great 3D at the best place to shoot. See y'all next month.

From: Clydebow
Date: 06-Jun-20

Eddie, Hope to be in our normal spot. So drop by, and maybe we can get together unless we are all out shooting.

From: eddie c
Date: 06-Jun-20

Will do. I'm hoping she'll get a good report from the cardiologist the Tuesday before, change her mind and we get there on Wednesday to settle in.

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 07-Jun-20

All I know for sure so far is Big JIM,and Art Vincent and 3 RIVERS but reaching out to others.Hope to have more but not sure right now. By the way anyone making reservations at the Hampton in Plesant View at exit 24 be sure to tell them your are coming to the TwinOaks IBO Traditional world and you will get a pretty good discount.Getting lots of call , looks like a lot of people just want to get out and shoot. That's a nice video on the Twin Oaks site, but no motel info.

What are the covid rules in the state, motels, stores?

From: Pappy 1952

Bill Pretty much everything is open with limited access and some spacing. Their should be info at the top in events , click on events and then motels , just looked, it is there. Pappy

There were over 40 participants in the Arvin Weaver selfbow challenge. The three winners were: 1. Shiloh Butts 2. Tony Taul 3. Leroy Forsythe

There were several qualification ties before the final 5 shooters. Pressure on the shooters must have been immense. After target 4, the final winner was already ahead 6 points. He was the last shooter and finished with an 11 as far as I could see. There was impressive shooting going on. Did not carry my phone, because I was shooting also. Hope someone will chime in with pics.

Just got in and I've got to tell you this was one of the best... EVER.

I got to meet so many folks from all over the country and a few from here on the LW and other forums. I got to shoot with Clydebow and Dennis and FINALLY got to meet Sipsey River and have a nice chat. I've communicated with him for years, delt with him when he was in business and hoped to one day meet him personally. Clydebow literally delivered me to John's camping spot and hooked us up--thanks Clyde.

I would encourage everyone to make a trip to one of these IBO Traditional World events. They work so hard to put on these shoots and so many great folks attend. Believe me, it's not all about the competition. If it was, I'd never go, no better than I shoot. :^) You won't be disappointed.
