I have an older blackwidow bow with a metal riser, 1250 ? .Heavy but I like it ,smooth and solid .Can you shoot FF strings with it or are there any other limbs options for these ?

If you call Black Widow, I'm sure they could answer all your questions.

As been discussed on here many times FF will not damage the bow but some will tell you differently. There have been more limbs/risers damaged with Dacron.

Weather you use Dacron or FF if there is a fault in the bow it will break, the string is not at fault. It's your bow use whatever you want.

Try both and see which one you like.

Call the boys in Missouri. If it is skeleton frame 60”-64” its probably a1225. If its 56” probably a 500. I have three 1225 and a 1200 target.

Black widow is probably going to tell you it is not built their specifications for use with low stretch. Its posted on their website when they started renforcing the tips and limb core and i think it was around 1987. According to them they changed the limb tip material and added a limb core of glass after testing and determined it was needed. Hoyt did the same thing around the same time but i believe they had a core of glass in the last 6 inches of the limb. I would think that if manufacturers who are the business of building and selling bows must have made these decisions based on the results of the testing.

I personally would use low stretch, which has been in use since the early 1980's...it's not new. Use what you like since it is your bow and I understand people who have never used FF on an old bow. I have, and still do, even on bows with no tip overlays. I'm not sure what else I could say other than that. It's your decision alone.

Max -

Look at the tips. If you still want to use a low stretch material, it's your loss.

I'd also be willing to bet that you couldn't tell the difference between A PROPERLY MADE Dacron string and a low stretch string without a chronograph or bare shaft.

Viper out.

I have 1971, 72, and 73. This is the 73. It is almost pristine. They shoot great. I would like to a 56” 500 to round out the collection lol. The serial numbers on the limb will tell you what year it is

Here we go again with the FF topic.

It's not worth the speed difference so why look at asking if your bow can handle a FF string.

Pad the loops,yadayadayada,etcetcetc.

Geez...

Same argument, time and time again. Max, call Black Widow and follow their advise.

Forget about the FF string (but thanks to all )...The other question was are there any other widow limbs that also fit on the 1225 models ?
