I just recently got a new take down riser from a well known brand of bows. I just string it up today to shoot it. On the 4th or 5th shot I heard a odd subtle cracking noise. I let the bow down and felt along the riser. I could feel a line that caught my nail. I unstrung it and could still feel the line . It feels like a small crack on the glue up line of the riser. Is this common ? Or could it just be a area they didn’t sand completely before finishing? Thanks

Since we can't see it we really are only guessing.
Personally I would contact the maker.

I would contact the maker. In any case I wouldn’t shoot it or try a repair. Should be under warranty

I’ve tried to take a few photos but you can’t see it, it’s mainly just with feel. It’s right where the bubinga meets

Is it more noticeable when strung. Get a helper and see if it tries to open when drawn. Then contact Bear. They seem to have a lot of cosmetic issues but if it is moving don't shoot it. Good luck. >>>>-----> Ken

Well, before you send it back, put some string wax in the locator holes where the limb attaches and see if the cracking goes away.

There is what appearsto be a crack in the red accent stripe right under the arrow in the picture. If that can be felt with the fingernail get hold of Bear. Send them a picture and let them decide.

I’ve had risers that after they have aged, like the main wood shrinks and the maple accent stripe don’t shrink because the thin maple was dryer, and you can feel the raised edges of accent stripe some.

I emailed them I’ll see what they say hopefully they can help me out. Not to thrilled about the finish on it either but I could work with that just not any cracks

If that's a strap on quiver you might rethink that. The only Bear TD limb I've ever had delam was when I put a rubber strap on quiver in that spot.I believe it was the cause.

Strap on quiver won't cause a delam if it isn't located farther out than the fade outs. I would never put it over the locking mechanisim or on the riser itself.
I see nothing in the picture, but lack of glue is generally an over used excuse. With any mfg, using phenolic in the build can be concerning. It is of the utmost of importantce that the wood is dry upon build. Phenolic won't expand and contract, but wood will. This creates a fine edge at glue lines.
If there is not a visual gap, i would believe the click you hear is coming from the TD socket/limb connection.
