Hi, all. Long time no see. I'm putting together a turkey arsenal. One of my go to's will be a 40 to 45 lb string follow bow. I'm looking to go heavy arrow with high FOC. Maybe end up around between 525 and 600 grains.

Does anyone think the more obtuse angle of the Black Hornet will give trouble with a worst case scenario wingbone and feather shot?

I prefer the stinger over the Black Hornet, due to blade angle.

Thanks for the opinions, forgot about the snuffers. Can't rule them out.

What poundage and arrow setup are you guys shooting?

For a trad bow, I recommend the Stinger unless you are shooting some pretty heavy weight. Like Tree I think the blade angle on the Stinger is more appropriate. Snuffer SS is my go to broadhead for my compound. I have a ton of confidence in that head.

Good advice, Stinger it is...just something about being made in USA by "Magnus"...like a Germanic warrior preparing for battle. I found some old school Magnus 2 blades, gonna have to build some arrows for them too.

the BH would be fine for a 60 plus pound bow IMO But with 40-45 Id used the stinger. Maybe the Killer Bee buzzcut

Thank you Sir Misalots. Do you like big cuts, that you can't deny?

I thought the chisel serrations were available on the vented ones too...but to my suprise, no. I must waffle on my previous selection and opt for the Killer B Buzzers.

so many great options. But the Magnus heads fly great and are sharp as h%^^. And there is the guarantee (probably never need it)

Magnus Stingers are my broadhead of choice.

Neither, but then if they were the only two choices left, I would take the one with the most shallow angle....not a fat head that may not penetrate as well. Turkeys have a small vital so I would just choose my regular deer hunting head and worry about hitting what I'm shooting at...which is the most important thing.

Don't think you could find a worse blade angle than that BH. It would be my last choice on COC broadheads. Snuffers should be ruled in. Too bad you have to hunt for them.

I have used and like the SER Black Hornets with my compound, but like others have stated. The Stinger has a much better appealing angle to the traditional bow hunter. I have both in the serated design, and think my next broadhead purchase should be those in the slick blade. The SER hornets are a little hard for me to sharpen. I will agree with George in that whatever you normally hunt with will work for Turkey if you hit your spot. My last longbeard was taken with a Zwickey Eskimo, from my Freeman longbow. He did not make it very far maybe 10 more paces..

The Magnus Black Hornet is a wickedly-good broadhead....for compound bows. The Stinger is also excellent....and good from a trad bow too.

People have been impaled on accident by blunt sticks and poles but yet a razor sharp “steep” angled broadhead at 180 FPS is gonna have issues on a deer?

Good advice all. I'm dabbling in the dark arts of HFOC, but guessing 45# self bows probably need a lower entry angle...even with 650 grains.

Buzzcut stingers all the way
