I received a phone call today from Bernies wife. He passed away Sunday in the hospital. He was a great friend with a huge heart.
Many will remember him from selling Bighorn bows and King of The Mountain clothing for years. His passion was his family and friends first. Hunting was second. There is so much to tell. But suffice to say he will be missed.
Long story short, he needed a procedure done at the hospital he had done several times before. But the hospital wouldnt do it because of the Covid 19. After a couple days they decided to stop the bleeding and during the procedure he passed away from cardiac arrest. They waited too long.
You will be missed my friend. This fall I will shoot a monster for you with one of ur Bighorns. RIP.

Shick, thats how I met him. 1990. My 1st Sports Show in Harrisburg. We hit it off right away. I was enamored with the 2pc Bighorn longbow. I think they only made anout 6 of them. Never ended up with one. But our life long friendship started.
Thanks for posting, guys.

Sounds like a wonderful guy and an outstanding member of the Leatherwall Brotherhood. Damn, this disease has taken so many brave, fine folks. Our time here is short, indeed. Once we get passed this - at least, this round - we need to reflect where we've all been, where we're going, the world that we shall encounter for years to come. Things will be different. Lets focus on Faith, Family and Country. And from my heart; Peace, Strength and Blessings to all... rare breed

I am sad to hear that. He was a good man.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
I too bought my King of the Mountain set of clothes from Bernie and although I never met him in person, I spoke to him several times on the telephone.
I have a short story reflecting his character.
I was guiding for caribou in northern Quebec at the time and an American hunter friend brought the clothing up to our base camp for me (that was about 200 miles by bush plane south of where I was working).
When I finally got my stuff, the suspenders were not there. My friend (a policeman) told me that he remembered the suspenders being with the pants, the top, and the vest when he handed them over to the manager (my boss at the time).
The manager claimed he never saw them!
Anyhow, when I got home I called Bernie up to order another pair (that I was intending to pay).
Well, he sent me up another pair of those high quality, fairly expensive suspenders for free - even though it wasn't his fault and even considering the fact that he had already given me a discount on everything I had ordered because I was a full time professional guide!

I will add that I had ordered a one piece recurve from him. I wanted to take it with me on a trip to Colorado to hunt mulies. As it got closer it was apparent that the bow wasn't going to be done on time so Bernie sent me another beautiful one piece bow to take on the trip and I exchanged them when we got back. Really a class act.

OMG Bernie have a good trip heading home rest in peace it is finished.Lord watch over Bernie's family and help them overcome their sorrow.
Its in Jesus name we pray and ask all things amen.
I loved Bernie we always shared stories of trips and enjoyed each others companay when I saw each other. I bought and sold Big Horns myself. Thats all I shot back in the day.
I'll never forget the day up at Harrisburg Eastern show when he had to get in between King and I we got into a big battle when I told King he was full of crap and didn't know what he was talking about. King threw me out of both and Bernie said don't do that King Glenns a big time customer.LOL
King had just taken over for Fred and he didn't know to much at all about his product line I felt. The argument was over the way the weights were measured that were marked on their limbs and stacking.
I laughed about it at that time it was before I came to the word but nevertheless it never jeopardized my relationship with Bernie he just laughed and that made King angrier.
I bought a lot of KOM cloths off him and traded some bows back and forth.
So sad it will be all our time to leave one day as well as it carries on we don't know the day that any of us gets called up.
See ya on the other side Bernie have my cloths ready please.
