I made this bow for a bear hunt my brother and I are going onx this spring. The bow has a natural wiggle that I incorporated into the arrow pass. It's almost centershot but not quite. I speeded up the darkening process by using an old furniture makers technique known as fuming. Ammonia fumes react with the tannins in certain woods to give an aged look. I think the fuming process gives the bow a unique color. Tip overlays are purple heart and spalted maple. The glued up handle is purple heart and yellow heart. The bow is 51#@26" and 61" ntn. String is 8 strands of 8190F. Handle wrap is burgundy dyed elk leather with kangaroo lace. Thanks for looking.

That is as good as a self bow can get - Tons of character - beautiful full draw - looks rugged and like it means business! I wouldn't want to be a Bear coming into your range!!! Nice Work - Beautiful Bow!

Nice tiller, you can turn osage dark by wiping a dilute lye mixture on the limbs for an instant color change.

Really like that offset on the riser/shelf. Nice job making that work for you. What arrows are you shooting out of that? Is the lower limb shorter than than the top limb?

Nice work! I'm finishing up a snaky osage myself and thought about fuming. Got to thinking the other day that I could directly apply the ammonia to the wood . . . any thoughts on that? Thanks,

That’s a beauty Steve. Any Bear would be honored to be put down by such a fine bow.

Thanks for the compliments. dgb, not sure if rubbing ammonia directly on the wood would work. Maybe test a small piece of osage before doing the whole bow. HH, yep just posted some better pics on PA.
