Full disclosure, I use a single pin sight for most of my shooting and hunting. That being said, for years I have struggled with holding the pin on target, I always wanted to release as soon as it blocked out my view. After about a month of doing a modified version of Jim's program, I can hold on for as long as I want now. I didn't draw 30 times a day, most days 10-15 times. I would shoot every once in a while when everything seemed perfect. And I used my hunting wt bows. The big thing for me was to have an arrow on the string, never to decide that I was going to shoot this time and to just focus on the target, not the pin. This program works, THANKS Jim!! John

That's great news, John. I'm thrilled your modified program worked for you.
I should point out that while I do NOT recommend anyone deviate from the program as written, in your case I'll give a big thumbs up. What ever it takes to beat the demon is good by me.
... oh and yeah, the name is Casto, not CastRo.

John, Good to hear that you are having success! I hear a lot about issues like this and it is unfortunate that people suffer while doing their favorite activity. I have not had any issues but knowing that there is help out there is comforting.
Jim has done a lot for folk on this forum as well as others. Blame the name issue on Fidel!

Hi John, delighted to hear that Jims program has worked for you ... in the fullness of time, I'm sure the archery community will fully realise the massive contribution Jim has made to solving this distructive problem.
I have an academic interest in target panic and I'd like to ask a question if I may .....
.... you mention you used a "modified" version of Jims program. May I ask what part of the program was modified and how the modified program worked where the regular program didn't.
Thanks

First and foremost, I apologize for misspelling Jim’s name. No disrespect intended. Also, I’ll apologize to the ones who corrected me, well within your rights. My only intent was to say a big “Thank-You” to Jim. He has put together a program that works, and made it available to anyone on here that asks for it. Very kind of him.
Phil, The biggest modification I made was not drawing at least 30 times a day. I only had my heavier bows at my disposal and that got to be too much. So, I would draw a couple times, move back and repeat. I was only drawing maybe 10- 15 times a day, but holding on target as long as I could. It was easy to hold the pin on target until I put an arrow on the string. Then I wanted to shoot when the pin blocked out the target. I used a deeper hook so I couldn’t release until I got so I could trust myself not to shoot. After about a week I got so I could just lock on and hold for as long as I wanted. One day at the end of my session, everything felt perfect and I just let it fly, hit right in middle of a 1” square pc of tape. Damn, that felt good! Now I allow myself to shoot once in awhile, but never at a predetermined time. Anyone who has fight this knows what a battle it is, I haven’t won yet, but I’m a lot better off than I was. Thanks again John

I have decided to use this time of isolation due to the virus to go through Jim's program.
The club is shutdown, all shoots in Ontario, Canada have been cancelled or postponed so I have decided to focus on the program, since I desperately need to do something about my TP.
I will reserve final judgement for when I am done, however, I am very encouraged by my results, so far.

I'm not finished with the program but am in the middle of phase 2 (1 shot AFTER 9 draw/aim/let down cycles) but from what I've seen it sure is helping! The light limbs (#30) help I'm sure but I've been drawing/holding some heavier ones along the way and don't have that urge (well, really an involuntary reaction) to let 'er rip! Thank you Mr. CASTO!

For sure.

I have 11 days left on the program and I'm enjoying the draw four times and shoot once from 5,10,15,20 25,30 yards segment of the program. I often shoot an extra arrow or two at the end of the full session and used my 52 pound bow throughout the program as my own personal deviation of the program I could always anchor at will if I knew I wasn't to shoot so the first part of the program (the non-shooting part) I didn't know if it was helping me any....but I did it anyway.
I can see some pretty positive results from the program. I never had a problem with anchoring in the corner of my mouth, but I would shoot immediately upon hitting corner anchor. I wanted to use a two point anchor with the corner of the mouth AND a feather on the nose. Before the program, I tried to use the nose but I never got there. Now I'm good on the two point anchor up to 20 yards and am working for an extended anchor on the nose at 25 and 30 yards. Today was my best day ever at controlling the longer shots.
Its been a worthwhile program and I suspect I will always use the last segment as a starter with each practice seesion. Its been fun as I have had to stay at home a great deal due to the virus.
Thank you Mr. Casto for sharing the program with me!

I have been doing the program for 21 days now, using my 30# bows.
Today, I got out the Yamaha YG68, 35#, which is 40# for me at 30".
I have had some difficulties with this bow since getting off chemo on Jan. 2, 2020.
However, I tried drawing the Yamaha 10 times, this aft., without any difficulty.
I'll carry on the program with the 30 pounders, but it was an encouraging byproduct of the program to be able to draw the heavier bow, under full control :)

I'm well into my drills, at Day 55.
They are going quite well and I am pleased with how it is going.
Its not instant success, I figure I took a while to get the problem and have had it for years, so it is understandable it will take time and effort to get over it.
The thing is, I have tried it on my own, but Jim's program provides a great structure for one to follow.
I am glad I decided to try it.

Just finished day 4..... I’m loving the new confidence I feel drawing and aiming and letting down. I think if I was to shoot an arrow I’d consistently hit the dead center bullseye. I am looking forward to doing these drills each day and completing this program! Thank you Jim!
