Anyone shoot a Satori or similar riser with Longbow limbs?

I have noticed many 3 piece longbows but not in ILF.

I have a Titian with Longbow limbs on its my favorite bow to hunt with

I use the Satori with the inexpensive Bosen LB limbs glass/wood. Weight runs about as marked , maybe under a pound or so. These make a 66" bow and seems to brace most happily just under 8". I don't draw a full 28 ,but close , and feel no stacking. Fun to shoot but I would like to come across some carbons to try in the future.

Just as a follow up , it throws 10gp around 170fps.

I have tried lb limbs in a few risers as I always liked the look. I found that my longbow limbs worked best on a riser that had the straightest geometry as opposed to deflex or the brace height needed to go up. I have centaur limbs on a black magic riser now and it braces VERY solid at 7.5 inches. I love shooting it.

Do you find the longbow limbs quieter?

Noise level would be hard to quantify. These limbs are relatively quiet but I have only recurve limbs to compare them to. Other limbs could be better or worse , only trying them will tell. Send me some $800 carbon/foam ones to try and I'll let you know. :)

I have used Morrison super short longbow limbs on a Hoyt Dorado (converted to ILF) riser and also used the same limbs on a Morrison riser. The combination was as quiet as any other three piece bow. As stated above risers with correct base pad angles is the problem. Some are just to plain noodly (floppy) to use.

I can try to answer that...but there are a lot of variables. Most of the noise I've found in my ilf rigs comes from the limb slap of the string, a light arrow, an untuned bow, or noise from moving parts on the actual riser My ilf recurve is longbow quiet imo due to a riser wit zero moving parts except tightened limb bolts, a 10gpp arrow, a mountain muffler string and a very nicely tuned setup. It took some experimenting, but it can be done. On most rigs the big thing you will notice is the huge difference in efficiency between recurve and longbow limbs. I'm sure some are close, but in my experience on average the recurve just produces so much more zip with all other things being equal.

I have a 17" Satori with long Centaur limbs. Haven't weighed it but seems to be be around 40-42lbs. I love it. Very quiet and forgiving. My draw is only 27" so no need to worry about stacking. No hand shock and a super smooth draw. Will definitely be taking it to the woods come September.

Not all ILF risers are compatible with longbow limbs. It's all about the deflexof the riser.

Some risers just simply have too much deflex making the limbs spongey and sloppy.

Arrow weight should have little impact on the noise from a bow. Much more important is a well tuned bow.

I have a 19 inch TAOW (Chinese Santori Copy) with a set of DAS XL longbow limbs. I am impressed with the handle and the whole set- up. Mine is 35# @ 28 inches. I love the way it shoots and the package works very well together. This was a bit of a gamble ordering the TAOW handle. ($130) It took about 4 weeks to arrive but I am extremely happy with the quality. I have had longbow limbs on DAS handles, Hoyt handles and Galaxy handles. All worked quite well. I liked the 15" DAS handle but I wanted a longer bow. This combination on the 19" handle works very well in my opinion. Complete package cost me $290. I like the handle on the TAOW. Fits my hand nice but of course others may feel different. Handle can be changed out if needed.

I set up some Dryad longbow limbs on a ILF riser and they noodled or maybe that's knoodled.

Found it very hard to switch back to a recurve, but that was about my last hope.

Risers 19" and under seem to work best to avoid noodling. Had some DAS carbon/foam long LB limbs on 21 DAS riser 66" and noodled a lot. Same limbs on 17" DAS they are fine. WF19 also worked well with LB limbs.

The length of the riser is not an issue. The angle of the limb pads is what determines the strung profile regardless of riser length.

Risers that have increased degrees of deflex require varying degrees of brace height to get the limbs past the sponge stage. Some folks are ok with that and some folks aren't. I'm not. The increased brace height effectively decreases draw length because the power stroke becomes shorter. But again, some folks are fine with that.

For 3 piece dexlex/reflex longbows I prefer angles of 10% or less when I build them for most side view limb profiles.

Craig I get all that. And I'm not trying to argue with or disparage any ones choice.

I did see the mention of the pad angle as well as being aware of the different types of limb side view profiles that are available.

But all that said, I don't like them.

If other folks do that's peachy.

I just received a pair of the 3 rivers longbow limbs from another on the wall. Trying them on different risers, but seem to work well on a 19" satori clone. here is a picture.
