I buried my younger brother today. Totally unexpected, but the result was the same. He lived about 4 hrs away and didn’t see each other much, but talked on the phone occasionally. Last time I seen him was the end of September at a family camping, picnic, just get together that tried to fall apart 10 times. We had 4 generations all together for 2 days of camping, cooking ,laughing, and just setting around the campfire poking it with a stick! Everyone talks about “ gotta get together soon” and that’s the end. Brian, my brother almost didn’t make it. But my wife, my sister, my niece would not give. We got everyone there. My 80+ year old parents and all the grandkids for 2 days. Best thing we ever did. Dont let people give all the excuses, get family together soon and often. We all ready have plans for as soon as the campground opens we will there! He was buried at a military cemetery and as the casket was being removed from the hearse, we had a flyover of 7 Swans! So close you could see there eyes and they made a half circle around us all. I would have had easer time getting a fighter wing to do a flyover than the swans. Brian was Air Force but Swans???? Don’t feel sorry for me....just don’t be sorry for NOT getting family together. No matter how hard It is. Kyle

God Bless your brother, and your family, with peace. The swans...totally not coincidence. I'd say its cause its close to Christmas...7 Swans a swimming. Even though they were flying. Amazing. Very sorry for your loss. I never had a brother...just one sister.

Really sorry for your loss. I agree about getting together with family. In June, my daughter was married (1 of 9 kids I have), she lives in North Carolina. I live in Arizona. The rest of my kids are also adults and are scattered all of the great USA. Anyway, at the wedding, it was the first time all my children and Grandchildren (15 total) were together at one spot for 3 days in at least ten years. I absolutely agree, it is important, it is fun and it is special times. Do not put it off like arrowchucker stated. Once again arrowchucker, sound advice and sorry for the loss.

Losing a brother is a tough one Kyle, so so sorry for your loss.

Like that your family got together for a campout and shared your memories. I believe strongly in those family campouts and also reunions too, and we have a winter campout in FL, which is mandatory attendence, almost anually. Now Kyle, you have some more memories for which to be thankful.

Asking a prayer for your strength.

So sorry and feel your pain and we morn with you. You are so true about family's getting together and being closer its sad the way life is. It don't have to be that way but sadly it is.

Lord watch over Kyle and his family and give them peace in all this and help them unit with the remaining family and help him stay close to the family he is the closest with and allow them to properly morn this loss as your grace prevails in their lives. We ask and pray all things in the name of our father Jesus.

Sorry for your loss, but happy for your get together.

I work with most of my brothers almost daily. It can sometimes be easy to take that time for granted. I have a lot of cousins. Some I see quite regularly. Some only on certain occasions. Strange thing is. A lot of those occasions are funeral services. We sometimes joke about it, but you never know when it's going to be yours or theirs.
