Are these still being made?

I don't think so. And it's a shame.

They are very unique and good shooting bows.

Still being advertised in Traditional Bowhunter. I think they are still being made, otherwise why advertise?

The orignal builder of those bows was Kiko Tovar from Waterloo,IA. I got to know in in later years through my bowhunting buddy Otis Toad Smith who pass away in Nov.4 1991 Kiko pass away few years later they were pretty close hunting buddies at one time but Toad never shot one of those little bows, but he made one for friend of ours Mike Judas from waterloo and it was 80# Mike was one tuff dude I couldn`t pull it back!

I have always wanted to try one. It is claimed they handle a longer draw just fine. >>>----> Ken

Ken -

Anecdotally, I don't think so. A friend of mine had one and he really liked it at his 27" draw. At my 29" draw, not so much.

Thanks Viper. Always envied the short bows. I have bought several and don't want any more Wall Hangers. They keep making the claims for the Shrew. I hope to run across one of those to try also. Have you shot them? >>>>-----> Ken

Ken -

Nope. At this point, I'm hard pressed to go under 66" for any length of time and 70" is even better. Even if the draw is "smooth", there's still finger pinch, and that's just geometry.

Viper out.

They are. My friend and his nephew received theirs about six months ago. They waited almost three years as the present bowyer was having some serious personal problems. Saw him just this past August at the Muzzy in NY's Catskills.

Ken, ive handled the shrew @ the 2018 tradfest. Loved to have shot 1 but Ron didnt have any in low weight. Now a short shooter is a thunderchild. I shot 1 @ the 2018 tradfest and to this day im kicking myself for not bringing it home. 1st group was the size of a golf ball @ 35 yrds. I just dont have patience for a 14 month wait time.

if you REALLY want super short, the vintage herter's perfection 46 (43"amo/string length 40") is ONE inch smaller than KT44 (string length 41"). another one that's shorter is rodney wright stalker recurve, but Rodney may not be making them any more.

I love my Little Suckling - have had it for 3 years now. I have 27” draw as well but I think if you talk to John about it I am sure he can explain things for you. It’s the best shooting recurve I have owned over my 49 years of shooting recurves!

Dao coming across one of those Herters is about as likely as coming across a Little Suckling. Trust me I've had my eye out.

Sparky, keep at it, don't give up. I kept looking too, and in 3 years, I got 3 of them. They DO come up. sometimes, 2 to 3 of them at once, so make sure to have your funds handy. I had to let go 2 of them because at the time, I didn't have "fun funds" that I could use.

Brian, I have a Thunderchild. I am trying to love it but its shortness is not growing on me. Quality bow but just doesn't feel right at 30" draw. Maybe if I lighten the weight a little. >>>>-----> Ken

The KT44 is still being made in very limited quantities. The guys name is John and I've met him at Denton Hill.

whoa! i better keep hold of my herters 46" , it is a great shooting little bow and amazingly no finger pinch at 28" draw.

There's one on ebay right now. You can buy it now for a mere 1100 bucks.

Yeah it's been there awhile. One sold some 6-12 months ago, I don't remember exactly when for around $1000 believe it or not. Right after it that listing came up for $1100 and has been running ever since.

I picked up a 66' Super Mag about 9 months ago for $200. I love it. It's taken it's place among my favorite bows.

Maybe it's time to give these shorter bows a try,I'll just add it to my bucket list.Never shot anything less than 58 AMO.
