The last deer I killed was in 2012 with my compound. In 2013 I went back to where my love of bow hunting and the woods all started. I had to learn to shoot LH due to an old eye injury. After several years of just not seeing hardly any deer. And when I’d have them close enough to something would happen and I’d get busted. Friday it finally happened. After missing an easy shot on a spike, I got a second chance at a small 6pt. 15 minutes later. I thought he would follow where the spike went. Instead he turns 90 deg. and walks in front @ 12 yards and stops behind a holly bush. Which gave time to change positions and move my bow around the tree. I said to myself, DO NOT BLOW THIS! Probably made one of the best shots in my like. He didn’t go more than 60 yards and I heard that old crash. The last time I shot a deer (6) was 1973.

Way to go Frank. From the time you've put in those years, you more than earned this one. Did you shoot this one from the ground?

I was in my son’s tree stand. I was so sure I got him I called my son to bring up Bandit my 8 month old lab that I have been working with to blood trail. Bandit got a “C”. He was too excited and too many people around. Can’t seem to get the photo to take.

That’s awesome. I shoot #62 just fine, but if I had to switch to lefty, I think I’d be down to about #12...

Oh left out the most important detail. It happened on my 49th wedding anniversary. My poor lovely wife was sick with a cold and went to work. She texted me happy anniversary and good luck. That’s why I’m still married to her.
