Our deer tags went up in ohio today. From 24 to 31.20 a tag. Our small game licences remained the same at 19 but I hear it may increase also.

Our buck tag comes with the license, resident $20.90. Doe tags are $6.90 for residents. We haven't had a general license increase in two decades.

I pay $65 for a 3 deer bundle license in Indiana. When I kill one on my property I check it in as a landowner and I don't need a license.

Archery tags are $16.00 for residents too.

From: Ben

Kansas resident is 42.00 for the first tag either sex. After that we can buy doe tags. How many doe tags you can purchase depends on the unit .

Ohio is making it a rich man's sport. I know alot of the guys around here that usually take 4 to 6 deer said they are only buying 1 tag and maybe no more.

From: Bootaka

$32 for the first $40 for the second. They even started charging for pigs.

Free in N.C. Just to clarify, that's after the Lifetime Sportsman hunting an fishing license I purchased for $100 when they came out 40 years ago or so. Definitely got my return on that investment. Includes trapping too. They added a saltwater permit more recently, but I don't do much of that.

From: DanaC
Date: 17-Oct-19

Massachusetts - If you buy a hunting-fishing combo it's $45. That includes two buck-only tags. Mandatory 'wildlands' stamp adds $5.

The bear tag, turkey tags, archery, and muzzle-loader 'stamps' are about $5 each, so you're out about $70 total. If selected for an antlerless deer permit it's another $5.

I'm 65 so I get a 25 dollar break. If I make it to 70 my license is free ;-)

Connecticut, $40.00 for an archery license, four tags come with the permit and replacement tags are available if deer are taken in two zones in the state.

From: jdbbowhunter

Bought Lifetime Licence ( Sportsman and Archery) years ago $650. Just wait for tags to come in the mail.

Here in PA it is odd to me how LITTLE a resident pays. But at the same time if they raised it the guy who drives the 56K$ truck to camp with three cases of beer and a carton of smokes would complain, but I think that is just a PA thing. I think what makes hunting in some states a perceived rich mans game is the amount of leasing that has occurred since everyone went horn crazy.

From: stykman
Date: 17-Oct-19

Even as a resident, New Jersey costs an arm and a leg. The general archery license is $31.50, but I, as a senior, it's $16.50.

After the regular season, we have an archery permit season. Here's where it gets expensive. This season is zone specific so in order to hunt even one requires a $28 outlay. If you hunt more than one zone, it's another $28. And, if you want to shoot a buck, that's another $28. Most guys do as this season coincides with the rut.

And that's just archery. Times 2 if you want to hunt with a muzzleloader in addition to the general firearm license at $27.50. I pay $15.50 as a senior. Permit muzzleloader requires the same permits at $28 per for individual zones and a buck permit.

Times 2 again if you want to purchase any doe permits during firearm deer season.

The only thing going for NJ is that if you get lucky (and have purchased all licenses and permits) you can kill 6 bucks.

So if any of you non-residents are thinking of coming here to hunt, bring your wallet with a lot of cash.

From: Tradarcherychamp
Date: 17-Oct-19

in Alabama the resident license is 26.60, no tags. Free after 65 y/o. you are supposed to report buck kills and only take three with one being four point, but I doubt it is followed. unlimited does

From: Supernaut
Date: 17-Oct-19

In an effort to get and keep kids involved in hunting and trapping PA charges junior hunters, 12-15 years old a whopping $9.00. This $9.00 includes their regular license, archery, muzzle loader and fur taker. Hard to beat that deal with a stick especially when you have a 13 year old son at home that wants to do it all.

From: Aeronut
Date: 17-Oct-19

For a long time it was cheaper for a Kansas resident to buy the licenses and tags in Missouri. You could get two deer and two turkeys for less than one deer in Ks. I haven't checked Missouri prices for a long time.

Virginia resident hunting license is $23, archery license is $18, deer/turkey license is $23,(6 deer and 3 turkey), bear license is $21

From: TrapperKayak

Around a hundred for everything, incl two doe tags (I drew 1), buck tag for rifle, and either sex archery/muzz. Fall/Spring turkey, small game, fishing, trapping. Seems high, but it is what it is. Should have bought the lifetime many years ago but I didn't think I'd ever move back to NY.

From: timex

VA is 23$ hunt license 23$ big game tags 18 archery 18 muzzleloader 18 bonus doe tags which = $100.00 & that gives you 12 deer 3 can be antlered

Buying a lifetime license takes care of increases, if you can buy one. Here in Pa., lifetime license is for those 65 or over...I bought mine in 2011. Mine is a combination hunting/fishing/trapping that cost me $101.70 at the time. The only thing I need to buy is doe tags, or a bear tag if I want one.

Keep in mind that in Pa. it's a one buck only state, and unless you live in the far east or far west counties that have more liberal regulations, you can only purchase three doe tags per year maximum, and that is predicated on the availability in your hunting area. With all that, and damn near a million hunters here, we still have a growing deer herd.

From: Dennis in Virginia Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member
Date: 17-Oct-19

Virginia also has bonus deer tags for $18 which allows you six additional antlerless deer, with no restriction on how many tags you can purchace.

From: swampbowman
Date: 17-Oct-19

The highest prices I see here for a resident license are still a huge bargain. Do you cheap skates ever leave the house ? You can't go see a movie and buy your wife a box of popcorn and a small Coke for what you spend for a license that will let you spend as many hours as you want enjoying our pursuit and with a little skill and luck fill your freezer too.Take a couple of your grand kids to eat and you'll spend more.Your license should cost less than a 1/2 dozen arrows ? You guys don't know what a bargain is.

From: GLF

In ohio that's about 31 bucks per deer for over 4 months of recreation. Including archery, guns, and ml. We don't have separate tags for separate weapons. Plus our private land and most public area herds in great shape. Disabled vets are free.

From: GLF
Date: 17-Oct-19

I forgot to add, where else you gonna find 4 months of recreation for 100 bucks if you only shoot 3, which is plenty for anyone. Shot 2 quick does then use most of the rest, if not al lol,on a mature buck.

From: 76aggie
Date: 17-Oct-19

We have a Combo license set up in Texas which includes pretty much all hunting and fishing as well as the special "stamps". As I get the old guy discount, I believe it is around $65.00 for me. This does allow us 5 deer, 2 bucks and three does.

Washington State, $117 buys you a combo deer, elk, bear and cougar license.. Just deer is $44, Just elk is $67. Keep in mind the limit is one per year. This State population is growing so fast there is a lot of pressure. Than throw in wolves, cougar and bear dining on the ungulates for frustrating hunts.

From: Kevin Dill

I really don't know what Ohio charges resident or nonresident hunters now. I hunt my own land and am not required to buy a hunting license or deer tags...or turkey tags....etc. I think the last time I bought a license was maybe 2005.

NR Wisconsin Archery License is $160 but includes 1 buck tag and multiple doe tags (depending on county you hunt)... non- residents can also buy additional bonus doe tags for $20 each.

While I've never filled all of the tags... $180 buys 1 buck tag & 6 doe tags spread across three different counties and extends my season through January... priceless as the MN season closes a full month earlier.

When I turned 60 a few years ago I bought a Louisiana lifetime license for $50, since then I haven't paid anything.

Before that I was paying around $45/year.

You can get a lifetime license here if you are younger but it is a lot more, not sure but I think around $500.

TX super combo $68 with archery, gun, fresh and salt water fishing, small game, dove stamp, and turkey stamp. 4-5 deer depending on county with one being a buck; spike or if branched antler 13" or wider.

From: yaderehey

In Wyoming a resident pays $42 for a deer tag. You have to buy a conservation stamp for $12.50. Then if you want to archery hunt you need to buy an archery license for $16. So a rifle hunter pays $54.50 and goes hunting. A bow hunter has to pay $70.50 to go hunt..... Wyoming is kind of fubar when it comes to archery hunting.

From: timex
Date: 17-Oct-19

I agree that 12 deer for $100.00 is a great deal however. if ya add up all the $$$ for all peices of paper in my wallet that allows myself & my family to legality hunt & fish. it gets rather ridicules. hunting license & tags. state duck stamp. federal duck stamp. national forest fee. fresh water fishing license. saltwater fishing license. saltwater stickers for boat. Atlantic migratory species permit. boat registration stickers. NC fishing license.it all ads up to more than a little $$$ but I still wouldn't trade hunting & fishing & the quality food it provides for my family for anything.

Pearl Drums is so right when he says it is the out of state Non-resident licenses which are really hard to deal with. Sadly, they were not always like that. The first out-of-state western hunt I ever went on was for mule deer in New Mexico and, as I remember it, an archery mule deer license was 20 to 30 dollars. This was in the early 80's. I remember an elk archery tag was about $100.00 or so which was way above my pay grade.

From: JJ

Not sure about other states but in LA if you buy a lifetime license it is still good if you move to another state and then come back to LA to hunt. You don't have to worry about non-resident fees.

Yeah, but go to KY,or Michigan, Ohio's neighbor's, Ohio still cheaper ? No?, Maybe everyone should just charge what the other states NR fees are, fairest way to do it
