58#! That's a power house rig right there. That arrow must just smoke off that bow at 30". Love it.

My bow is a 58” Osage 54#@27” I pull 26” it was a belly split off a stave I bought back in the summer it’s a semi bendy handle bow I used dark leather dye to dye the bow and it’s finished with 50/50 bees wax and lard with elk antler tip overlays and the point of a tine glued on for an arrow shelf I shot that buck at around 17 yards

How long is your bow Buster ?.

Here is the bow. I missed a beautiful 350# boar black bear with it a couple days ago. As i was coming to full draw my upper limb caught a small branch and pulled me off my shot. Better a miss than a badly placed shot i suppose

From: B arthur
Date: 17-Oct-19

I love the bows. Any of you selfbow guys ever kill a bear with your selfbows?

From: Bjrogg
Date: 18-Oct-19

Mine is still unscathed. Haven't had much hunting time yet and no shot opportunities.

Nice hunting HH

Love the spot and stalk badguybuster. Looks like a good shot to. It really is exciting putting on a successful spot and stalk.

Trent that is a beautiful buck and a beautiful bow to match it. I'm sure your wanting to do that again.

Congratulations guys. Everyone good luck and Happy Hunting

I’ve not ever hunted for bear but would like too. To me I would just be happy to go shoot some hogs with my bows we don’t have many bear around here where I hunt and absolutely no hogs which I guess is a good thing but the shot opportunities would be great

From: fdp
Date: 18-Oct-19

Trent, come to Texas, I'll put you where the hogs are.

From: trent87
Date: 18-Oct-19

Don’t be to inviting I just live in Arkansas and love Texas I don’t know why I didn’t move down there when I had the chance

Well, any time between now and about March is prime time. After that the bottoms get too thick and the grass gets too high to see the rascals.

damn HH, you huntin' in a petting zoo :)

great season, congrats

From: Pa Steve

I don't really have a decent picture. The only picture I have is a doe I shot a few weeks ago hanging from the rafters in the garage. It had some road rash from the atv drag out so it wasn't very picture worthy.

Shot with a ribtek on poc using an osage longbow about 50#s at 28".

Tommy Robinson Selfbow 50#@28” I draw 26-1/2” Sitka Spruce arrow with a 2-Blade Zwickey Shot was maybe 12 yards and he only made it 35 yards before giving up :)

Gonna start whittling on my HHB stave next week. I've had to stall progress for higher priority projects. May not get to hunt with it this year, but its possible by late bow if I take the time. I'm pretty green though, its my first attempt.

It’s been an exciting year of hunting, I shot this plump 8 point on 11-9-2019 after setting a stand for a different buck that I had on camera. Hunting with my selfbow is just so rewarding.

From: R. Combs
Date: 12-Nov-19

I built my selfbow to be shot with a fixed crawl. It’s 45@28” and has a point on of 20 yards. My arrows are Sitka spruce with Simmons heads.

From: Bjrogg
Date: 12-Nov-19

Congratulations Rick. The really cool thing is the second one is just as exciting as the first one.

You self bows guys are one of a kind that is awesome kills

From: Eric Krewson

People that don't know selfbows think we primitive hunters. I would stack my selfbow up against almost any modern longbow shooting the same weight wood arrow and probably get better performance out my bow.

our deer season isn't over until the end of February. This is a snaky osage selfbow made by Joe Mattingly over 20 years ago and gifted to Lloyd Lippert. It was a heavy draw weight bow and was pretty whip ended so it was never shot much. Lloyd gifted it to me at MoJam this past July and I have slowly been trying to retiller it while also reducing the draw weight. It's not finished yet but I really wanted to take "Joe" on a hunt and so I grabbed it and a nice cane arrow with a flint tip for an evening hunt...she came in just before dark and only ran about 50 yards after the shot. It was awesome!
