For years, I used Larry Jones camo paint. Now it is no longer made. I am looking for a face paint that comes off easily with soap and water. The ones I have tried do not. I need black, brown, green, gray, and, believe it or not, white.

It's GOT to come off easily in the shower. Who can help a gnarly, old bowhunter?

Paul, I've been using the Hunters Specialties stuff for over 30 years, and never liked it - sticky when I sweat, and hard to scrub off. This year I followed E. Don Thomas' advice and bought a Sitka Gear lightweight balaclava. The thing just works. The temps have been in the high 70's here this season, and it's not hot or smothery feeling, and it doesn't adversely affect my shooting. Might not be the solution you're looking for, but I'm not going back to face paint. Great for 'selfies' too, nobody wants to see this ugly mug!

I also use white at time, but it is hard to find..... I have found the tube brands can be taken off easily, and you can remove it, with cold cream, as your wife takes her make up off with it................

I was lucky to find some original Fred Bear tube colors at the rummage sales last year, that stuff was really easy to take off, but it does sweat off, also

I have used HS Strut stuff, without any issues, also....... I also like face paint, compared to a face mask

any paint, in a plastic holder, does not go on easy and is hard to take off.................

I usually find the tube brands at Wal Mart, or older style sport shops............. we have one sport shop in the UP, that still carries items, new in the packages that are over 20 years old etc

just found some Myles Kellers stuff there the other day

Here's a tip for you, go to the stores with Halloween stuff and get there face paint. It's made to come off easy. Which reminds me, I need to get some more black.

Burnt wine cork. Best there is and wipes off with a dry rag, but stays as long as needed.

Thanks so far... I just had a brain wave! Does anyone out there have Larry Jones camo face paint that they would sell to me. Even his old stuff works well when you just add a wee dram of water. I don't want to have to use face cream to get the stuff off. I tried Primos face paint, but it is too hard.

Look up a brand called "Carbo Mask". Got some last year and it works well enough and does wash off easily.

Hunters specialties user here for almost 40 years. I get the little compact with blank, brown and green for under $10. It'll last me a couple seasons. It comes of easy. A trick I learned is take a dry paper towel and get wipe most of off, then just wash your face or shower. Happy hunting and good luck sir!

Or, Paul, you could do like me and just stick some leaves in those facial wrinkles that we proudly earned during a long life. Just make sure they don't interfere with the passage of the string. Oh, check for ticks first too. ;)

I use sharpie markers, and remove it with acetone when I shave.

I really like http://www.naturespaint.org/. Stays on even in this heat and comes off easily with baby wipes or in the shower.

I live on the water, so I've always had lots of zinc for my face. I moved over from "sunscreen" and just get zinc "face paints" same stuff. Comes in any color you want. Stays on well enough when I'm not in and out of the water. Never had a problem with getting it in my eyes washes off easy enough.

My wife and I have shot close to 200 animals without anything on our faces, just smiles.

Baby wipes take off any face paint and they’re cheap. Wipe your face off then take your shower and it’s all gone. Don’t matter how stuck it is. My daughter leaves some nasty ones and those wipes take it all off. Face paint is nothing lol

From: deerhunt51
Date: 15-Oct-19

YES I hear you Tundrajumper. But we don't live in Alaska. Down here you need face paint and every other advantage just to have a chance with a bow.

Burnt cork or Hunters specialties creme tube makeup. They both wash off easy. I have tried the other Hunter specialties stick types, but they were hard to remove.

From: kmbrown

Carbomask makes the best face paint I’ve used. Goes on easy, stays on through sweat and comes off with just water. I keep a pack of unscented baby wipes in the truck and these will easily remove it.

carbo mask is easy off. not the best to apply though. (sloppy) and no white. Larry is on facebook you could probably ask him who it was made by. they may have a similar or same product under a different name or brand.... halloween paint might be a good option too

From: Popester1

Probably not much help here, but my son lives near Fort Campbell, Ky. I've picked up a lot of military black and green face paint from thrift stores down there. It washes off easier than any other face paint I've ever used. I'd think it could be purchased online somewhere.

I have been using the camp fire pit when I hunt where I may catch the morning sun... I will add that 95% of my stands are in the deep shadows and I rarely use anything on my face.

All you really need to worry about is the shine off the nose and cheekbones.A bit of mud/dirt will do the trick. As mentioned cold cream is best for creme camo as most have a cold creme base.

For the ones who doubt face camo, one year hunting in Idaho two of use were working a bull elk as we moved up the mountain. He was screaming at us every call. I was the shooter and my partner was calling. They always gave me crap about putting black lines on my face saying all you need to do is enough to take the shine off. Well, my partner (who made the comment) had just green on. At one point I looked at him below me and all I could see was a green light bulb floating through the woods. Funny to see, not when your trying to get close to a bull. I made him stop and break his face up with some black, he stuck out big time. I say the least you shout have is black lines to break up your face.

Haven't painted my face for years and didn't like the old camo stuff either. Used to have a lot of wine bottle corks, so like Pearl Drums said, I kept a burnt cork and it worked fantastic. My grandmother taught me about burdt cork when I was a kid as she had seen it used in her stage days. But there are some newer great ideas replied above.

From: Dry Bones
Date: 17-Oct-19

I use a face cover now, mostly. But my wife found me some Activated Charcoal in a small tub. Do not need much, but the only color is black. I just smear it around and let some be thicker than others. It washes off well enough with warm water and mild soap.
