I started this with a fellow waller back in the June Swap & Trade thread. He had a fiberglass bow that I liked and he was interested in a selfbow. He had some offers on his bow, but nothing to write home about. I offered some that I had in house but nothing sparked his interest. So I offered to make one to his specs. I will leave him anonymous, unless he chimes in. So here we go with the build-a-long. John

We went back and forth with emails. He was willing to wait as I carved. Which was a good thing, Because i ended up working out of town for seven weeks. I HATE IT WHEN REAL LIFE GETS IN THE WAY!!!
He requested a strait stave and I am partial to snakey and knotty wood. So I crawled up in the rafters to look for an osage stave that was to squirrely. Low and behold I found some staves that I saved from Michigan. John

4" straight handle. He asked for a shelf, so I decided on 3" fades. It will not be a center shot, but he wont have to shoot off his hand. Also did not know which end to make top or bottom. So I built it off the center line. We will designate that later. John

53#@28" a little heavy, but the back has never been touched since scraping when chasing the growth ring. This way when Chad does his sanding for gluing the backing material down. He will have freshly exposed wood. Also has room to lose 3# or more to get to his ideal shooting weight. John
