So, up until last year I shot a glove. Last year I switched to a tab for a cleaner release. Well, Shooting this year I was getting frustrated because my consistancy and anchor were all over the place. When I would come to my solid anchor, Feeling a certain moler, my groups would move, and I would clip my nose. Finaly getting fed up with it today I dug out my dimascis glove, The first thing Inoticed was I did not have to fight as much to hit my anchor. The tip of the glove is thicker alowing me to not push in so hard. The next thing was I did not clip my nose. After a few rounds I noticed no grouping isuse and my groups were tight right where I was looking out to 40 yards. My last round I busted a nock. Food for thought for anyone with issues like this, some of us can't shoot a tab and are better with a glove.

I did buy one of the more popular tabs this summer. I shot with it for about a month. I just couldn't get it to feel right. I'm back to a glove again and, well, things are feeling right.

I either use a glove, or the tabs I make myself. I've tried many, many of the commercially made tabs on the market and didn't like any of them.

That is not a problem with the tab. Whatever works for you is good, but I love my tabs and have been using them longer than a lot of folks have been alive. You have to be comfortable though, so I suspect you made a good decision for you.

I use a tab left handed at 3Ds three under. I use a glove right handed split finger for hunting. Both feel fine.

I shot a Damascus glove for years. This year went to the Bearpaw speedglove and I absolutely love it. Very smooth release.

X2 what George said. Glove or tab, whatever works for you is the best.

George x3. I shot a glove for many, many years, because I could never get a tab to feel right for me. Finally found a tab that worked, a Black Widow. Since then, I've also found the Bateman tab works well for me. Been shooting a tab for a half-dozen years now. Enables me to get a tighter, more feelable anchor. Don't think I'll go back. Regardless, whatever works for you.

I went back to a glove...and there's numerous reasons that I find it more appealing.

I like both. During our hot season a tab appeals to me, just cooler on my hand. I do love my American Leathers Kangaroo Crossover glove as well. It’s 5 years old and hasn’t stretched yet. It has worn a little but no finger grooves. Yes, switching from one to another takes a few arrows but I don’t mind.

Tried tabs several times. Bought several and made many more, could never make myself like them. I'll stick with my gloves.

No right answer - only a preference.

I was getting a bit sloppy with the tab to so I went back to a glove a few months ago.I like both but the glove feels a little more right for me.Probably because I got started with them.

I think much has to do with facial features and the general size, shape and location of each individuals cheekbones and jawbones as to whether their anchors will feel more at home using a tab or a glove.

That said?...my arrow handling skills come far easier with a glove than with a tab.

Glove hater....100% tab !!! JMHO !!

I've tried different tabs numerous times in the fifty years I've been shooting recurves and longbows and can't shoot with them as good as I can with a glove. Everyone's different so I shoot with what works for me.

Jinkster, I think you are very correct with the facial features comment being an issues for people.

I have looked at the black widow split finger tab. But, I do not get the theary behind it? The tab has 3 separate tabs? It's the same as a glove in that respect.

I will still keep my bateman tabs and shoot/try them but for this hunting season it's a glove. The one thing I am concerned with is the using something different syndrom. Somethime you shoot better the first few times you make the change. Hopfully not, my confidence was dropping with the tab. Plus, my wife is getting tired of the big hole on the side of my nose.

I also have tried some tabs. The release does feel nice, but overall the tab feels so ackward. I like a glove, feels good for me.

The first thing I have to say is if you're a hunter, don't change anything now.

Second is what did your coach tell you? Because here's what I'd tell you and I can't see you shoot - Shooting a glove or a tab is just a habit. Habits can be changed. Your form is a habit - good or bad.

You have a form 'habit' that developed throught the years and fits with the glove. I'm betting the tab problem is a head tilt. Otherwise it's pretty hard to hit your nose. Heads can be tilted u or d, l or r.

"The tip of the glove is thicker alowing me to not push in so hard." My question on that statement is how would you know? Seems to me that you'd be better able to adjust that with a tab. Plus there shouldn't be any l or r pushing. It should be pulling in the opposite direction the arrow is pointing.

Any pushing l or r is going to deter getting your fingers off the string cleanly.

I shot with a glove for many years.

Tried a tab on & off several times, but for the longest time I just never could stick to it for more than a couple of shooting sessions.

Finally forced myself to use a tab exclusively for a couple of weeks. By the end of that two weeks I was getting along real well with the tab, and loving it.

Now, you couldn't run fast enough to give me a glove. 8^)

Yes I am a hunter and its the only reason I shoot a bow is to hunt.

I just got done shooting again back and forth with the glove and different tabs. The glove shoots the best for me for my form as far as consistansy. to shoot the tab right I have to barely touch the corner of my mouth and I do not like not feeling that moler that I use for my anchor. The glove allows me to plase my finger tip on that moler to have a consistant anchor and not hit my nose. The end rounds today was with the glove and I am right in there for hitting. Even went up on the roof and shot at pieces of paper and hitting consistantly so I am sticking with it for the year, for now. I shot a tab with my compound for many years and would have the same issue with my nose, but I shot more years with a glove so yes, my form is habit from shooting a glove. I may change again next year but for this season its the glove.

trying a glove after shooting a tab for 20 years feels like I'm wearing a catchers mitt.

I can't imagine how a glove would fix or improve accuracy over a tab, which has 10x the tactile feel of the string, nock and anchor point, but if it works for you then great. It doesn't bother me in the least what others shoot with. :)

Its really what you feel comfortable with and what shoots best for you.

I shot a glove for many years.I had no problem with it at all.

I have shot a tab for many years and have no problem with it either.

One thing I notice if I go from one to the other it feels very awkward at 1st.But the awkwardness goes away the more I shoot it.Till it feels totally natural.

So if your switching from one to the other. You should give it some time before you ditch it.

I shoot a glove when gapping with a high anchor, there a tab feels awkward. When I stringwalk it is a tab with a low anchor and can switch between them easily because they are so different.

When hunting use what works best for you. When shooting at targets. That's the time to experiment. I only use a glove when I'm going hunting. That's what works best for me right now.

I try not to convince anyone anymore, and it still comes down to feel for most folks. I can't stand a glove in the summertime and I shoot a lot then, it's just too dang hot. Tabs are slicker off the string, and combined with a good release, you can pick up quite a bit more performance versus a glove. That, however, can be an issue with some folks when trying to switch since it will change the entire shot dynamic. You can't decide in a day or two if the tab will work for you. Luckily for archers, we have choices.

I have a few gloves, but mostly they are there for back up if I lose or misplace a tab.

From: Live2hunt

I have been shooting for a long time so it doesn't seem to take much to make the change work. Actually, using the tab I am consistently to the left and high of the target and have more to adjust (yes a bare shaft fly's straight). The glove is dead on without adjusting. I do like the smoother release with the tab and next year will try other tabs to see, but I am confident with the glove now this year.

Can shoot with either one but prefer a tab, gloves get stretched out and after awhile feel weird.. been shooting same tab for about 3 yrs just keeps getting slicker.

I have tried to get a tab to work for me several times... The biggest problem for me as a hunter is how long it takes me to nock a second arrow and get my tab positioned correctly on my fingers and the string... I'm sticking with my glove!
