Hey all, I decided to use my birth year bow to take my first deer of 2019. Normally I am a selfbow or longbow kind of guy but I have had a 1967 1/2 Super Kodiak for a few years now and decided it was time to get it bloody. I was born in November of 1967 so I guess you can't get much closer than that. Shot was 18 yards out of an 8 ft. hang on stand and specs are 60" 52@28 and a Woody tipped with a Ace 160 broadhead. Thanks for looking. Dave

Picture was after dark so not the greatest. With night time temps in the 70's I had to get it quartered and on ice right away so couldn't take extra daytime pics. Dave

Congrates! I too have a birth year bow, but I'm thinking I might be to old to get the job done.

David, congrats on great shot & nice deer. Like that you mentioned your tree stand height. 8- 12’ is good. Any more than that and the shot angle becomes to severe. It certainly worked for you??

Dale, this tree stand location allows shots from 6 to 16 ft. elevation depending on which trail. That is why I chose that height, this deer was on the 6 ft. elevation. Dave

David, actually that’s a very nice pic. Those temps really make you hustle to get that meat cooled down. It’s been warm here too. Our season don’t start until Oct 1st.

Nice shot...with one of the nicest bows ever made. My B'day bow would have to be a '52. Not sure I would want to be pulling one that old back to 31" !!

I don't know if I did or not because I was born in 1946 and there were no working recurves yet. I did kill a buck with Ol' Buck, and he could possibly have been made then. I'll never know though. Nice deer by the way.

My first choice bow is an ILF setup, but I've been shooting a '66 Blackhawk Short Hornet a lot lately as a backup. Love to take a deer with it.

My go to bows the past several years are my birth year as well, 1953 K-4. I killed 3 good bucks with the 59 pounder, then last year started hunting with the 54 pounder and killed 2 does. I'll be carrying the 54 pounder this year too, hope to take a buck.
