Work and weather caused me to miss the first 2 weeks of our 3 week season, a foot injury took me out of the 3rd. This was going to be my first season in almost a decade with the bow. I was ready as I was shooting every day until a business trip decided to kill 2 weeks. As tough as it is to draw a tag, to say I am disappointed would be a gross understatement. Ah well, hope springs eternal.

Morn now, and then don't let it speak to you anymore. God willing next year. I've been their, and done similar.Next year may be the year you kill a buck of a life time. Be positive, and the hurt will pass.Hope your foot heals 100 percent. Good luck.

It happens unfortunately. I think all of us who have been doing this any length of time have had things get in the way of our hunting.
Start getting ready for next year. Or, come to Texas and we'll hunt hogs.

It is never over! Small game, waterfowl, uplandgame. Coyotes! Do not despair, change your quarry! Good luck and enjoy your time afield. Matthew

Yes, I hope you're talking about something exotic..elk, sheep, moose. If I lived where they had a 3 week whitetail archery season I'd take antidepressants and have a psychiatrist on speed dial!

I didn't look up the regs for New Mexico, so I'll just go ahead and ask. What was the intended quarry and why is there only 3 weeks? Beyond that, change the game and hopefully you'll get more time to hunt.

I had a mule deer tag. Thanks all for the positive comments. I am pretty passionate about upland and waterfowl hunting, so I still have hunting to look forward to. Fortunately my foot is healing nicely, not mountain ready, but I am getting around with no pain. Finally cooling off, so the coyote hunting will be picking up, and hopefully we get our first hard freeze earlier this year, a rabbit or 2 would be nice, have the blunts all ready.

If I told you everything you would not have posted this I feel your pain I really do. Someone always has it worse.
Maybe ? Just maybe you got spared from crippling accident that if you would have gone on this trip as plained the God had your back on?
That's the part we don't know and we don't think about unforeseen things.
I have experienced things going through my fingers when I had it right in the palm of my hand and asked Lo9rd why.
Well Glenn because of your ego. And I mean some really big things in life that most could not believe.
I have seen others that had lost and not been able to be done and also have been spared of life many times over my years.
Each time why so we can learn maybe what we need to learn in live don't fully know always and sometimes comes later in life remember those times? Oh yeah now I see it plainly.
We all look through coke bottle lens at times I think.
The important thing is foot healing and if your young enough you can look towards the next you get plained Lord willing.
How else can we look at things. Disappointment, anger, resentment those aren't good traits. So the opposite is Grace, understanding and Hope.
