Nice George. No wonder you hunt close to home. I hope you get him. Or one of them anyway. I am going to be trying your ground game this year. I have a lot to learn but it will be fun learning.

Thanks for sharing George. That's the kind of things I miss, even after living in the city for 50 years! It will be fun for you to watch them finish "growing" the rest of the summer!

Some real beauties there!! Exactly what time of day were those pictures taken?
Bachelor group's are interesting...I remember seeing five bucks cross the road in front of me near my property in Northern Ontario in August 1995...all of them were six and up and each successive buck was bigger than the last, with the final one being a big 10 point!
I stopped my truck for the first one thinking " There's a nice buck.." and then the rest followed about five seconds apart! Quite the parade!
I will never forget that!
Thanks for sharing George.

Nice bucks down at your place George, Where do they go when you want to find them, haven’t seen one on the buck pole in the past, but have seen pictures of them in the field. Good luck.

That's a dandy George, hope he sticks around. My buddy has a farm that every year he gets a group of bucks stay all summer. They seem to drift around the 1st of October.

This particular area 'bachelor group' shows up every year during mid July and you will see them for about two weeks. After that it's again a rare sight. On the ridge they are on, it's easy for them to get to posted land and very steep land those goes into a privately held area that is both steep and thick. No one really hunts it as the proper belongs to a 501C group of retired army folk that run the place as a military retreat for R&R for service folks and their family.
The deer do move around of course, and by archery season when they separate more, you may find them up on another ridge, or even to ridges over in another valley. So seeing them now is a treat, but really not a way to plan on them otherwise. The genes are being passed along though each year.

You must have a good zoom lens, that's properly 200 to 300 yards across that field to the tree line. Now all you have to do is find them in season and kill one. Good luck.

Nice to have an area for them to hide out George. After all if they stayed out on public ground they would be gone. This way you still have a chance.

That corn was planted late...mid June. He has corn in other fields much further along; however, it has been a wet season here and the lower lying field by the creek valley never did get dry enough to plant. Knee high by the fourth of July is generally the theme of corn planted here in the NE.
That alfalfa is the second growth after the first cut. It must really be good as every year that is what draws deer to that area. It also provides a lot of moisture for them.

hedge, where they are in the photo is open to hunting, and about halfway up that mountain is okay as well. They also cross over the ridges into State Game Lands. Funny thing is Pennsylvania deer can't read posters so they don't know that they are on private land or not. They cover a lot of territory once the bachelor groups break up. But I would think you would know that already )

Our WV deer can read. They stay on posted ground where there is no hunting:)
