I think the prayer alone has drawn several of us closer to each other. I feel that way.

And this sickness sure has taken a few feathers out of my wings also. Now that don't mean frisky has the right to drive bye and pick up any of my feathers either. Just so Joe knows. LOLs

And or drive over any of my deer. LOL

yall non fb users confuse me you are on a social media forum saying you don't use social media ??? fb is no different than the leather wall or bowsite you only see what you chose to see. I don't understand your reasoning

From: Buckshot

I'm in on the request

From: RonG

Timex I used to be on face book, but they screwed up my subscription and locked up my account, they can't unlock it or I can't either.

No one can seem to figure out what happened, but it did and I can't use it, probably a good thing.

From: Sarge

Timex, LW is a long way from FB. No one knows I'm even on here and hardly any mainstream population even know or care what an archery forum is. Its not the same by any stretch. I don't have tons of personal info. up, no pics of me plastered all over telling people I just went to Wendy's and ate a square burger, fries, and choco milkshake, and then went to see JD and the Mindbogglers at the HomoCasino. Sorry, nice try.

From: badgerman Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member

Wishing you all the best. I also don't do facebook.

From: Sarge

A FB page to shore up prayer requests here on the Wall and fellowship promoting the Wall. Shalom

From: timex

ok whatever go crawl back under your rock. I offshore fish all summer & the fishing groups I'm a member of on Facebook is a valuable asset. & if I hunted away from my home you can bet I'd utilize Facebook to find information about the region I was traveling to. I Will say it one more time you only see what you chose to

From: S. North Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Facebook is just a different type of forum or what we call today social media.

I am member of a site that has a very active community following a custom knife maker. Conversations and posts are much more broad.

BTW I rarely post on my on page.

I dont do FB but God bless and live well. I put "All Leatherwallers" on our prayer intentions board in the youth room at our church, (my wife is the youth minister). We meet 3 times a week. We open and close with prayer each time, so 6 times a week these misguided youths and our family is shouting up to God for ya'll. Can I get an Amen? Nybubba

From: timex
Date: 19-Jul-19

not defending fb but the only info needed is a name home town & state you don't HAVE TO post pics be friends with anyone but you do have to be accepted or join some groups to access their page. I believe this sight requires the same basic info !!! again y'alls reasoning or lack of it confuses me but do whatever you wish or not

From: TrapperKayak
Date: 19-Jul-19

If I asked every person I encounter what LW is, I'd get an 'I don't know'. If I asked every person I encounter what FB is, they'd all know. That's my reasoning. I don't need the whole world to know what my interests and experiences, and fellowships are, just need to relate to those few who think/do like me, and a few select others. Not everyone on the Facebook of the earth...

From: 4nolz@work
Date: 19-Jul-19

You better crawl back under your rock "brother" lol

From: timex
Date: 19-Jul-19

if you asked them what an archery forum is they'd all know... you are missing out on a wealth of information & lots of archery groups or whatever interests you groups.....I think your a little confused you chose weather your info is private or public & I will conclude with this just cause you go to the book store doesn't mean ya have to look at the porno mags the book store is a wealth of information. so is Facebook ya just have to use some commen sense ...that's it I'm done ...sorry sarge I think you have a great idea with the leatherwall brotherhood fb prayer group

From: Sarge

I am on facebook... mainly in a few groups of special interest to me...bagpipes, BBQ, what have you. I've made several friends there, especially on the few bagpipe groups...common folks with a common interest from multiple points of the compass. I've made a few friends here as well.

From: TrapperKayak

Guess I'll just have to miss out. I don't have enough time to spend on it and still do all the other stuff I do. I'm glad its out there for those who do.

Sarge, best to you and your prayer et. al group.

Did somebody call me a "knuckle dragging Neanderthal"? Hey, I resemble that remark! And my rock is quite comfortable. Never been on FB but to each his own. I'm still just open-minded enough to have no qualms with those that have. Momma said it was "the debil" and momma was always right. Actually she went to her reward about 20 years before the internet...but mum was prophetic! Wife, (and kids when they visit) poke at their phones like deranged chimpanzees. The rest of the world is now ADD by choice...y'all can have it. (My phone still has a rotary dial and works just fine)

From: TrapperKayak
Date: 24-Jul-19

'Momma said it was "the debil" and momma was always right.' My wife's father said, before he passed, that the computers and internet would be the 'undoing' of society as we know it. Someday that could very well be true, something like some excessive solar flare or super-hack job by our adversary could cripple the whole caboodle and leave us completely at a standstill. Think about that, and then prepare a secondary plan...to get through it. I am not going to completely rely on modern technology. That is why I am a a hunter and particularly a bowhunter actually - keeping it real and doing things the real way. When it comes right down to it, I have a means and skills to survive.

From: Codjigger
Date: 24-Jul-19

I am not a survivalist as such but I have kept a few traps and snares just for that possibility..as you said. A massive black out would paralyze everything. I also keep a stock of dried beans, rice etc. Sandy

The internet is just a tool, how you use it, or abuse it is a personal choice. If you want to look at the negative side of everything, you can find fault with anything.

I just talked to an air force vet who was delighted to have met some old buddies on social media. He likely would never have found them otherwise. We met at the Flight 93 Memorial which is bout 25 miles from my home. There were doing some travelling together and reliving old times. Yes...what a horrible thing that Facebook is.

There are groups on there also that openly share things like recipes, gardening, free classifieds, genealogy, homesteading, tips on how to build this or that, and a lot of good information. I like it, as does my wife and many of my friends, and it's not a whole lot different than any forum, but it is what you make of it...nothing more. If you abuse it and it robs you of your time, that's a personal issue and you deal with it, not a fault of the website.

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 24-Jul-19

I've said it for years, and will say it again:

The ease in which all these devices (computers, internet, smart phones, etc) have made our abilities to communicate, have cheapened those communications to the point where much of the time they are nothing but gibberish/garbage.

Add to that the shrinking abilities of reading comprehension, and/or the ability to understand in general, and it's a total disaster in the making.

The sky is falling. LOL

Rick

Be interesting to see if, a couple of generations from now, peoples necks evolve to a horizontal position and they lose the ability to speak. There is a whole generation out there right now that have lost the art of conversation, even among family members. But, that's a "smart phone" problem that could be cured by parental involvement. I really like Facebook. Get to see my great grandkids play sports, can talk face to face with friends and family in Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand, participate in watching out for thieves and other wrong doers in a place where neighbors are far flung and no LEO's. Also would never have met the Mongolian Action Crew or other archers from that area. And, yes, my only phone is a wall dialer and I insist that all cell phones be turned off in my home. Hope you get a great bunch together, Sarge! Sadly it's not something I do.

I remember in the 50's when Rock and Roll was the devil's curse and we were all going to hell in a hand-basket. Gotta love human nature.

From: Nemophilist
Date: 24-Jul-19

I'll pass. The leatherwall is way more than I need. I prefer to talk face to face anyway. You can learn a lot more about a person that way.

From: olddogrib
Date: 24-Jul-19

Rick, bad news...the sky's been down. But if you're still here it must of missed you, lucky.

George, we just watched the girls do the twist when momma wasn't around and we made it to adulthood just fine....although rumor has it my cousin still has hair on his palms!

From: Darkhawk
Date: 24-Jul-19

I don't worry bout who sees what on either forum. I'm just here to shoot stuff with sticks ,Share stories and lies and see what everyone is up. And even as an old Heathen I think the prayer requests are one of the best things this board does for its community. So why not expand it. Take your positive and share it. Take your negative and fix it if you can. Make everyday a little better than the last and don't waste time arguing about little stuff. Time to log off and go shoot

From: timex
Date: 24-Jul-19

George couldn't have said it any better I first got on Facebook during a soul searching time in my life to find some old friends & I was more than 50% successful at doing it. then I discovered the offshore fishing groups & archery groups & local swap & trade groups & on & on & I can guarantee you that there are far more devilish things in this world than facebook

From: TrapperKayak
Date: 24-Jul-19

I stand corrected gents. However, Ive been very lucky/blessed/fortunate to reconnect with old friends, classmates, roommates, and family without any social media involved at all. How could this have happened, in this day and age...without Facebook??? Like I said, not knocking it for those who choose it, I just have little use for it, right now anyway. Plenty of other ways to gather info. and reconnect.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Here is another example: A lady who goes to our church was telling me she was cleaning out a house in Windber, Pa., for the owner to rent it out, and she found an Arrow of Light cloth award in the attic with a lot of buttons and certificates on it. She brought it to church Sunday morning and gave it to me. I found the young man on Facebook (won't give his name here) and he said he thought is step dad threw it out. It had quite a number or awards on it and dated 2012. We met him Sunday afternoon to give him his long-lost award. He thought it was gone for good and was from his cub scout time. He was quite a happy young man when we left him and headed home.

You can do what you like of course, but some of us find more good than bad in it. Thank goodness we are free to choose eh?

Just to clarify, the FB group is not meant in any way to replace anything! It is a just place to come and get either prayers or good thoughts and nothing to do with any certain denomonation an even brothers who are athiests or agnostics are welcome to come and enjoy fellowship if they have a FB account. Actually, it is made up of Brothers/Sisters who promote the Bowsite and the Mods there have zero tolerance for anything that would be derrogatory to our beloved Leatherwall. Shalom
