Sure like that a lot. Bet it would work also for a Kodiak remake 59'er too instead of a full glued grip, and it would look fantastic against the dark wood riser. Great stuff.

You shouldn't wear it out anytime soon. I have had the same beavertail wallet for years.

Yes, very durable. And you're right, even wet, beaver doesn't get slippery.

My Kodiak 59er with the beaver tail grip. I like it over the entire grip as the grip is somewhat small and I have fairly large hands.

Thanks David for the photo. Sure looks good. Have a 2013 59'er without a grip and was looking for options.

Looks great! Out of all my bows I have one with a beavertail wrap, and like it the best, great grip not to mention the looks. Here We call it Montana Gator. I keep all of the tails from the beaver I trap here. Eat more beaver!

Looks very grippy. I was beginning to think it only worked on left handed bows. ;)

I didn't do my Kodiak with the beaver tail myself, Big Jim did it for me at the Ky TradFest a couple of years ago. :o) I really love the feel, but I am having to consider getting a new Kodiak as the one above has some how gotten heavier to draw for this 75 year old. :o) My draw length is 30 1/2" so I get added weight from that--a nice 35#er would be nice these days. LOL

Not too hard, Jimbob. You just have to be careful because the skin is more closely adhered to the tail down the center and near the tip and edges. Watch your knife doesn't skip out through the skin as you work by those areas.
They can be tanned or applied without tanning. I like to tan them and have a batch salted and dried now, ready to tan.

Nicest grip material there is imo.
Those Bear 59s look especially good with them.

Anyone interested. Big Jim posted a video on how he does beavertail grips. Pretty interesting.

old buck, I live in Florida and that is my favorite for arrow rests,....tougher than nails.
Haven't tried it on grips, prefer bare wood, but am changing my mind lately.

You did a good job forming it through the saddle. It doesn't stretch much.

Is the beaver tail grip as good as a checkered grip to keep your bow from slipping in your hand while wearing a glove?

I think that serves two purposes. It sort of makes the Blacktail look special and helps your grip. Good job Bob.
