A favorite outdoor artist of mine is Philip R. Goodwin (1881 - 1935) He did hundreds of paintings dealing with hunting , fishing , and the north woods in the early 1900s. He illustrated for magazines such as Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, and Sports Afield. He also did paintings for companies such as Remington, Marlin, and Winchester. In fact, the Winchester logo of a fast horse and rider was done by Goodwin. Anyway, I found a book that he illustrated in 1918. The book was "Adventures in Beaver Stream Camp: Lost in the northern Wilds" In it Goodwin had 3 illustrations of bowhunters. Goodwin was known for his "predicament" type painting and these illustrations are no exception. They are action scenes of bowhunters charged by a bear, treed by a caribou, and attacked by a bobcat. I thought I would share them with you.

One I got hanging in my gameroom.
A Les Kouba print ( Bow Hunter ). This original print was commissioned by the Ben Pearson’s Bow company in the 1950’s.

Another one that hangs in my gameroom. An old art print I found at a flea market 25+ years ago. I'm guessing from the 1950s.

I recall well that Les Kouba print from the 1950s when I was a kid. Sure would like to get a copy now, anyone know if/where they are available?

Very nice. I have several Nick Rosato prints that are basically Native Americans involved in hunting, and a couple of Jeff D'Agostino's prints. I've had them for about four decades now and they line my little bow room/den/cave/bedroom.

This is one of just 40 prints of Jeff D'Agostino's "One Chance". My favorite. It is even remarqued on the lower right hand corner.

Bowhunter Magazine used to sell calendars with beautiful bowhunting paintings, back in the 1980's-90's. Some portrayed trad. bows. Was a great mag back then. Thanks, again, to those who have posted.

FireChiefJeff mentioned the old Bowhunter Magazine Calendars of yesteryear. I remember that in almost every picture of a game animal, if you looked closely into the eye of the animal, you could see the reflection of a bowhunter at full draw on the animal. I always thought that was pretty neat.
