CD ARCHERY will once again sponsor the "Last Man Standing" event @ the IBO Trad Worlds, with another $500. If you missed the fun last year you don't want to miss it again. Come out and play, as you might go away with some cash$$$$$$$. Along the way to the Last Man Standing, there is lots of cash money given out to archers who participate. Thanks so much CD ARCHERY! Visit IBO Traditional on facebook for more upcoming events

I was just telling Nancy to get our reservation. Want the top floor again so we can throw some more cookies to the deer and raccoons that come out every morning and evening.

From: DanaC

Hopefully can make 2021, this year is still a bit too 'busy' for me. Last years' pix sure do show a beautiful venue, hope you all bring cameras.

So now Nancy is talking about trying to get people to share a lodge instead of a getting room. You have to get them for the entire week. That's no problem for us, but I'd be afraid of someone having to back out at the last minute.

Danny, check VRBO. They had some stuff listed. Lot's condos.

P.S. Campsites are getting thin in the park. The hotel at the park is nice, with breakfast in the mornings, and has some availability. Let them know you are coming for the IBO archery shoot. Also, don't forget to check VRBO, as there are nice cabins close to Pipestem, and still available.

Literally my back yard.

Yes, there is some nice small mouth down in the river. Punkin seed or motor oil colored mister twisters will keep you busy. North on Rt. 20 past the park is Bluestone Lake and boat rentals available. The town of Hinton below the dam has a great eatery called "Market Place".

I will be hanging out with that crazy Lost arrow.

I so wanna say I'm coming but after last year?...I'll wait to see what the weathers gonna be like.

From: 1buckurout
Date: 07-Jun-19

After last year?

As I recall, you were coming until the weather report said rain. Ended up being a beautiful weekend--upper 60's to mid-70's, blue skies and no rain, until the last shooters left the range on Sunday.

Tell you what, Bill, I'll bring an extra rain suit, umbrella and plastic bag to cover your fletching. Come on up.

:^)

For anyone who knows....how much of a PITB is it to stay in the Pipestem Resort State Park "Mountain Creek Lodge Rooms" (where you have to take a tram ride to get in and out of the place)?

From: Jinkster
Date: 08-Jun-19

Well I guess I'm out but for anyone who wants to know?...

Pipestems main lodge is all booked up but there are 4 units left at the Mountain Creek Lodge that run from $112-$149 per night and there's a couple cabins left (where I just unleashed one cause no one is available to travel with me) and they only rent out weekly (Mon.-Mon.) for around $800-$1,000 for the week

if your going nows the time to reserve one.

From: r.grider

Is there free primitive camping at this shoot ? If not, what are tent camping rates ? And amenities (showers, flush toilets?)

From: 1buckurout

Lot of motels in Princeton, WV--about 17 miles from the park.

IBO Trad Worlds will have another new game this year!!! No time to sit and rest. “THE YARDAGE FACTOR” Shooting 3D is two games in one. You must first judge the distance correctly, then shoot the shot. This year to help archers with the game of yards we are introducing a simple, yet fun game of mastering yardage. 10 targets. Pencil. Paper. Person closest to the actual overall yardage wins the prize $$$!

A great tournament with a competitive course, shooting with peers, and a bowhunter challenge course to shoot with family and friends. Lots of side bar events. U will not be bored. Shooting starts on Thursday at noon. Be sure and get a schedule so u don’t miss any events. Lots of fun. Laughs. Friends to be made. Archers from all over the world. What an event. See u there. Please say hello and introduce yourself.

Is there a class for a guy that just wants to shoot his hunting bow? I am sure I will not win but, would love to compete. How does one go about registering if I'm shooting a tab and regular hunting set up?

From: DanaC
Date: 23-Jun-19

There's a 'Traditional Hunter' class, but depending on how your bow is set up you might fit into a couple other classes.

(Also, if you're over 60 there are Senior classes.)

Complete IBO Traditional World rules -

.... and don't forget the Hunter's Challenge course. You pay once and can shoot it as much as you want all weekend.

From: longshot
Date: 23-Jun-19

If you have a bow, IBO has a class for it. Just show up with your rig and they'll tell you what class it is. Show up, shoot, have fun!

From: DanaC
Date: 24-Jun-19

longshot, 'blanket' statements can be tricky. Show up with a bow that doesn't qualify as 'traditional' and you'll find yourself competing in RU - Recurve Unaided, competing against some specialized rigs.

An example would be an otherwise ordinary wood riser recurve - with an elevated rest. Or if you shoot your longbow and wood arrows by stringwalking.

And if you shoot your recurve with sights, you'll be competing in 'Hunter Fingers' except the trad world shoot doesn't include that class!

Bottom line, know the rules going in, don't be disappointed. Most folks who have already shot IBO know the rules, but new shooters should double check.

From: Bownana
Date: 26-Jun-19

If you have a question about the class you will shoot in or are not sure, you can call the IBO Traditional director Levy Bryant 850-393-4078. He will be happy to assist you with questions.

From: Clydebow
Date: 26-Jun-19

They aren't compounds, so they all are "Traditional" equipment.

Hi Kurt. Yes it opens at noon on Thursday. There are so many fun events to shoot for the Trad World weekend, had to open on Thursday to get it all in...lol...I love it. Non-stop archery!!! IBO puts on a fine shoot! Thanks to all the sponsors: TradTech, 3Rivers Archery, Bob Lee Bows, CD Archery, Arvin Weaver Self Bows, Fort Lauderdale Archers, Thanks IBO! And real big thanks goes out to all the archers who come and make this the epic World Championship shoot it is: those who make plans, make the effort to put the IBO Trad World on their schedules, spend their time and money, and support archery! We will all have a great time in Pipestem.

Kurt, hope to see you again this year. I am extending an invite, as I did last year, for Guys and Gals to stop by the Christian Bowhunters of America table and say hello. Thanks again to you and DWinVA for stopping by last year. I pray for safe travel for those coming to Pipestem and I hope the weather will be good. Thanks. Dave

Here’s another surprise. Last Man Standing on Friday at 5 in Pipestem. Just show up. Bring ur bow. May need some 5$ bills to buy back in if u miss a shot. But U don’t have to buy back in. Doesn’t cost to play the game. Lots of fun too! And very big thanks to CD Archery for sponsoring this event. (Now we need to get together and misplace Dewayne’s bow just before we start so he can’t win again!!! No one needs two Indian statues do they? Lol. Thanks again CD Archery!

Do not forget you can shoot a longbow and a recurve on 2 separate courses. Course A for RU, FRU, REC, FREC, TH, STRAD, YOUTH. Course B for LB, FLB, SLB, MLB, SB. Bring both bows and shoot both. Then for Sunday you can decide which class/bow you want to compete with your peers. I love this as I like shooting two bows.

I want to thank all of you that stopped by my table and said hello. It was really nice to actually meet people that post on the LW. Big thanks to Big Stripper who had enough grit and patience to sit with me and watch one of the events.

3-Rivers had the misfortune of setting up next to me again this year. Such a fine and pleasant couple promoting the sport of trad archery. Somebody stops by and shows an interest in learning how to shoot, Johnny grabs a bow and some arrows and across the road they go to the practice range. Top notch people, top notch company.

Stickbow21 covered for me some while I was away from my table. He is one of my very best friends or at least I thought. Why, after talking that picture of me, did he chop around on it to make me look fat ?

I pray for everyone to have safe travel going home. Thanks. Dave

Good seeing you as well Dave.

Yep, Syd is the real deal. There is no disputing that with her multiple IBO World Championship belt buckles. The best thing is she's an outstanding young lady outside of archery. I really enjoy shooting with her and her family....we have a blast at our local shoots.

Fingers crossed that the Trad Worlds come back to Pipestem...it's the perfect place for it.

Take care.

For those of us who could not make it, what would a perfect score be? How many targets? Scoring method? Just curious.

From: Bownana
Date: 25-Jul-19

The scores will get posted soon. Funny we worked for months preparing for this event, spent lots of our own money on “items/printing/prizes/kids,etc”, drove 2 days there and 2 days back, missed 5 days of work, got 4-5 hrs of sleep every night while putting the event on, never sat down, got home Tuesday morning, went directly to work, and now it’s Thursday, and my goodness those scores aren’t up. Hummmmm. No consideration for all the good or how great everything was? It’s just post those scores for me because I didn’t go to the event. For the record...it’s not the IBO. The IBO is waiting on one of those people I just described to find time to put it all together for them to put on their website. I have little patience because I know how hard five people worked to make this a great event and be sure everyone would have a great time. If u were not there u missed it. But Sorry the scores aren’t ready yet. Lol.

From: 1buckurout
Date: 25-Jul-19

IBO scores, 11, 10, 8, 5.

25 targets in the Hunter's Challenge, so a perfect score would be 275.

60 targets (30 each day) in the Championship, so a perfect score would be 660.

From: DanaC
Date: 25-Jul-19

Shana, those of us who are involved in 3D on the 'work' level appreciate the work that goes into it. (A buddy and I set up 20 targets this morning.) Organizing, set-up, registration, and that's just for a 'fun' shoot. Make it more of a 'serious' competition and you're upping the ante. You need people organizing shooting groups. Tallying, checking and double checking scorecards. Answering a hundred questions and trying to get out and fling a few arrows too! I know all the IBO reps around here and they are all volunteers totally dedicated to the sport. I make dam' sure to shake their hands every time I see them.

Not sure if and when I'll make it down to the 'World' shoots but you have friends everywhere.

PS do you know how 'Makoa' shot?

Levy said Pipestem would like to host again but IBO wants to move just to keep scenery fresh. He said possibilities are Branson, MO-Indiana-Tennessee and Pipestem. "Levy said Pipestem would like to host again but IBO wants to move just to keep scenery fresh. He said possibilities are Branson, MO-Indiana-Tennessee and Pipestem."

I believe Pipestem is hosting the 'World' (all classes) IBO championship next year. That does not preclude them hosting the Traditional World...

IBO likes to move shoot venue after two years, from what I've observed.

A week and a half ago it was hotter in Massachusetts than at the IBO Trad world shoot in WV. (I checked.) That might have been due to elevation in part.

From: Bownana

Hedge I think you missed your calling as a "weather man." lol Thanks for the insight. I am going no matter where it is held. Just have to prepare for the weather at given location. BTW...I just saw these around the neck fans that are 12-20$ Battery/rechargeable for 12hrs. Looks like earphones around your neck, but it is actually two fans that blow your face, & neck I guess. I am going to buy one and let you all know the review. It may be a fan that will cool you and you can also shoot with, while not worrying with it. More to come.

From: Bownana
Date: 02-Aug-19

Hedge, I’m with you. With all the things that Twin Oaks has to offer the traditional community, it is a top notch venue for the trad worlds. Not to mention that Nashville and Clarksville have great entertainment, lodging, and food. When you fly into Nashville you’re 30-45 minutes from Twin Oaks. I love flying in one day early, walking Broadway listening to great country music, buy a new pair of cowboy boots lol, then going up to Clarksville for event. With the new 7am start times for IBO peer groups, archers would be off the course by the heat of the day. And Pappy always has the air conditioned tents for our comfort. But it is not up to me. I love it every year. All venues have something to offer us!

From: Tal McNeill
Date: 02-Aug-19

Twin Oaks is great: the course, the setting, the host club, everything. Just shoot early morning and you'll be fine.
