Is the Black Spitfire a bow made by H. Groves apprentice after he took over the business in early 2003?

I found the Nitefire when I was looking at the Black Spitfire. Anybody know anything about Twigmaster Bows? I would assume it's Twig Archery's own line???

I was thinking of ordering one until I found out the grip throat is a tad over 5". Little too big for my taste. It is a poor mans Widow, very nice bow.

probably made by the same people that make the blackhunter aka galaxy ember. not bad bows for the money.

I was checking this bow out this morning. Anyone have any experience with it?

Is that the bow greg from 3d archery did a review on last year?

I have one. Purchased from Twig. It was set up with arrow rest, cat whiskers and nock. Also weight checked . I would not hesitate to buy from Twig again. Greg from 3D Archery reviewed the Stealth Hunter from Eric @ Hitman Archery. I like everything about this bow. Very smooth draw, quiet, good speed and pleasure to shoot.Several archers have shot mine and all liked it. Heavier mass than my Galaxy Embers but less than my Bob Lees. Grip is larger than the Galaxy Ember and Bodnik Mohawk but feels good . If you have any questions call or text me 1- 810-278-3885.If you live nearby you can shoot mine.

Purchased one for my wife about a year ago from Twig Archery . They are great people to deal with ! Not only does my wife love this bow , but her shooting accuracy has improved as well .

I have one, very smooth at 31" draw length! Great shooting bow, I like it better than my Black Hunter. The only thing that took a little getting used to is the short sight window, other than that, love the bow! I would recommend it!

I found this bow about 2 weeks ago, have been trying to get hold of one. Spoke to John at Twig archery on Monday- nice fellow, loves to talk archery.

Hope to get one soon.

It's made by Black Hunter or a version of. Twig Archery and Hitman Archery sell the same bow just different names.

3D Archery Greg Richards did a review on his ( stealth) and gave it a great review thumbs up, and he shoots it quite well.

For those who have one; is the window cut past center, and how much? Thanks

Keep in mind, you 'may' see TWO VERSIONS of this bow out there ...

VERSIONS - The initial release, as shown below, has a VERY sculpted riser. One of the Buyers of this bow (from the OEM source) wanted the riser section less sculpted and that threw a wrench into the availability of these bows, which weren't as well received in the newer shape ... or as so I have been told.

SHELF - It is indeed cut past center, a good 1/8" even with the OEM shelf plate affixed.

PERFORMANCE - Fantastic! Points easily/very natural, even force-draw curve to 30" (did not test any further), so stacking, quiet and great cast; observers have commented it appears to be a 'fast' bow. And it is by my chronograph testing, but my setup is not your's, so I leave out my particulars on purpose.

SUMMARY - Haha, someone above termed it the "Poor Man's Widow" and while I certainly can't argue with that, I myself never took to BW bows at all, waaaaaay too heavy feeling in the hand (for me), but this bow is just perfect! And stylish too!

Awesome bow and an incredible value!

LEFTY Bows - FWIW I tried for months to get a lefty version of this bow or the Nitefire (also called the 'Black Hunter Deluxe') from Twig Archery and finally gave up. Greg from 3D Archery turned me to Eric from Hitman and I had a lefty version in a week!

There are many more reports on here of this bow, so lookup 'Stealth' as well as 'Spitfire' for terms ... but not to be confused with the Black Spitfire as made by the Groves apprentice.

My brother has one that folded up the lower limb after a dozen shots. That’s no big deal that can happen. Twig dropped the ball handling it though, they would not refund his money and had no limbs to replace them with. They told him that the maker was in New York and would build him new limbs. 3 months later he gets his new limbs in a box shipped from China. The bow is very nice I like it a lot. I would never do business with Twig archery , they were not upfront at all , actually outright lying.

I purchased one of these bows from Twig. Fast shipping and the bow is beautiful. It shoots smoothly and draws smoothly. It is a bit longer than my Black Hunter so I think it may draw a bit smoother. I am a Black Hunter fan. I have both the recurve and the longbow. I like this bow every bit as much. I like the looks a bit better with the reverse mount limbs and the dark color. Some do, some don't. I have read that others have had a hard time finding additional limbs in other weights. I have no experience but would like a set of 30 pounders. I will have to check with Twig. - jwingman

Having had couple years of very rewarding archery experience with Harold Groves during his last years, I'm disturbed that someone would rip-off the Spitfire name of Harold's creation, my first recurves. Maybe somebody bought the name from the estate?

From: Chairman
Date: 22-Jan-21

The name spitfire has been used many times, predating Mr. Groves I am sure.

Yeah Spitfire wasn't copy righted. "Dyna Stressed" was at one time I believe.
