Know your state laws regarding switch blade knives, which the make up of that knife falls under. Many states show them as illegal to carry open or concealed.

What is considered a switchblade?

Vintage switchblade. A switchblade (also known as an automatic knife, pushbutton knife, ejector knife, switch, Sprenger, Springer, flick knife, or flick blade) is a type of knife with a folding or sliding blade contained in the handle which is opened automatically by a spring when a button, lever, or switch on the handle or bolster is activated.

I'm with NY Yankee. I will open my own 110 for that price.

My edc is an automatic. Although not absolutely necessary, I can't count the times that this feature has proven very handy. Have fun with your new purchase. Looks like a very cool knife!

From: Lowcountry

Price, law, necessary, blah, blah, blah - That is cool. I didn't know Buck made a switchblade.

Forewarned is forearmed. It's good to know what regulations apply before you find out in a manner you don't care for. Just trying to pass on information that will maybe keep someone out of trouble. What you do with that information is up to you.

A lot of these knives are not true automatic knives but are 'spring-assisted' knives, I think this concept was pioneered by Ken Onion.

I'm not into auto, assist, or tactical type knives. I'm happy with my standard issue USA Buck 110 and my vintage Uncle Henry LB. If I were into auto's, that knife would be of interest, but I'm cheap and sure I wouldn't buy it. OR any knife for that much $$$ Enjoy yours!

I like it. Not sure I’d pay that for it, but it is a cool knife.

I collect bucks I have a vanguard with fancy rosewood and brass, 118, standard 110, Cabela’s Alaskan guide 110 with s30v and black blade, and now this one. In Missouri you can carry and own a switch blade as if 2012. I’ll do a detailed review when I get it.

As long as it is legal where you live I think if that is your thing, go for it. I am not a fan of carrying a knife for self defense (I prefer a handgun) and that is about the only reason I can think of to have a knife you can rapidly deploy. If I did carry a knife for self defense, it would be a fixed blade knife. Interestingly enough, it is illegal to conceal carry most any knife in Virginia other than a small pocket knife, but you can open carry about anything.

This is a cool and rugged knife at a fraction of that Buck (which is way cool, but the price! Oy!)

You can get these at less than list price.

Switchblades are illegal in Ohio. Spring assist is not.

I never realized Buck knives were collectable

I'm partial to Schrades myself! Never owned any kind of a buck knife.

Laws? We don't need no stinkin' laws!

From: RymanCat

Be for warned Frisky will way in after he cleans out his Cat houses.

How did you not know Bucks aren't collectable they have been a American heritage like Remington and Winchester 30/30. LOL

From: Babysaph

I think they use those knives in the hood.,lol

From: Babysaph

What is the difference in a switchblade and spring assist?!

From: Franklin
Date: 15-Jan-19

They are starting to write the word..."gravity assist" in to regs. Meaning if you activate the spring and use "gravity" to lock the blade it`s illegal....example...a wrist flick.

The pinch if busted is a "deadly weapon" charge.Best to clearly understand the laws then to not.

From: Lowcountry
Date: 16-Jan-19

I never understood the reason for "switchblades" being illegal. Was there a rash of knifings with switchblades back in the day? Are they really any more dangerous than a regular knife? Do they cut deeper?

I guess it is the same concept as "assault" rifles - they look scary. Forget that 99.9% are used correctly, or are for show and never really used at all, they open a second faster than other knives, so let's make them illegal.

I showed this to a Missouri State Trooper just for his take. Said most likely you wouldn't get it back

From: Lucas

The Scheel's in KC had one, it was a nice knife, seemed a bit heavier and wider than the average 110.

From: Nybubba1
Date: 16-Jan-19

I'm for the regular 110. I had a buddy in high school who had an Angel blade. They come straight out of the end as apposed to swing out like a switch. Anyway, he was messing with it then put it in his pocket. When he did that he accidentally hit the button and the blade shot through his pocket of his brand new goose down coat and nicked his leg to boot. Id pay a little extra because of its aesthetics. No doubt it's a good looking knife. But not 250 for the switch

From: Bobmeister

I think its pretty cool , made in Idaho and legal here to. I will take a quiver full of them.

From: Henry McCann

More power to the original poster. It's his money. If he likes it and wants it, he should buy it and enjoy the heck out of owning it!

From: Therifleman

My thoughts exactly Henry!

From: Kwikdraw

Me too Henry, but if illegal, that's another matter!

I like it .price isn't that bad.i have seen higher priced knives for sale in the classifieds.

From: Bowguy Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

Not for me. I have zero desire. I’d def not pay that much extra. If that’s your thing God bless ya

I have many 110's. Custom, my own customs, le and regular. Since my auto elite, they all sit. The ability to open the knife one handed is indespensable and I couldn't give it up.

Enjoy yours. Here is one I did in oak with an oak net.

From: Knifeguy
Date: 16-Jan-19

Post the review, I’d like to hear it. I have several older 110’s. Buck is now offering a 110 and a 112 Slim Pro Lockbacks that I’m very interested in. USA made and under $100. Blades are S30V, black G-10 or brown micarta scales with a reversible, removable pocket clip. Thanks, Lance

Sure like my ordinary 110 a chemical company gave me five years ago. But really like that fancy push button 110 a whole lot.

Have an 80 year old brother with a ministry for the homeless and travels downtown and into homeless camps late at night. He wears a big wooden cross and keeps an easy to open knife handy. Told me he has had to open it downtown one night and ask if the two who were going to hurt him bad if they needed filleted? They declined. He needs that knife!
