While doing some cleaning recently & sorting a bunch of old record albums, I came across a record I had long forgotten about. I am just wondering how many other Letherwallers my also have a copy of the album. I don't remember when or where I bought this record, but I think it is a very interesting item of Bear Archery collectibles.

I have one that I bought in the '60s. bvd

Came out in 1968.This is where you can hear Fred talking about "If some of our teenage thrillseekers really want to go out and get a thrill, let them go up in to the Northwest and tangle with a grizzly Bear,Polar Bear,Brown Bear. They'll get their thrill. It will cleanse the soul." This is heard on Ted Nugent's tribute song Fred Bear about his old friend. Great to hear Fred's voice. Great find.

Yep, since the year it first appeared. When it came out there wasn't much else to bring it out on. I also have some 45RPM records of Burnham Brothers game calls.

I'm amazed that there are bowhunters that are surprised by this, but I guess that comes with being an old fart and that new folks come on here every week.

What’s a record album? Lol just kidding. I heard if you play it backwards you can hear Fred say “stay away from crossbows” ?? Awesome find.

From: Altizer
Date: 09-Jan-19

I had it in the 60’s. Loved it as a kid. Loaned it to a buddy and never saw it again. Pretty cool.

I listen to mine every nite for my put my old bones to sleep story. LOL

What nolz said. Vinyl is making a comeback because they found out it has the best replication of sound versus digital crap. Kinda like old tube amps as opposed to modern digital ones. You can get turntables with speakers pretty cheap with blue tooth capability as well. What goes around...

Never knew that and I am a vinyl guy!

Thanks for the thread on the album Gary. I didn’t have one until 5 minutes ago when I went to eBay, found one and bought it. $5.99 plus shipping and WA state sales tax. Took it to eleven bucks! I’ll make a trip to the frame store and buy an album cover case to display it in. After I listen to it of course. As a kid I watched all his hunts on American Sportsman. Wow, what memories. Lance

Maybe there is a service that can put it on CD for you guys. Be fun to listen to while going down the road.

I never had the album. I only had the cassette tape. The album was in the Bear Archery catalog in 1969 and 1970, but didn't appear in the catalogs after 1970. The cassette was available from 1983 to 1989.

For sale on Amazon right now, about $50, depending.

From: NOVA7

I had it on cassette tape several years ago.

From: Babysaph
Date: 19-Jan-19

Is Ted Nugent on the album? He and Fred were friends

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 19-Jan-19

SB, you can buy a plain old turntable with built-in speaker. The blue tooth thing allows for using wireless accessory speakers, even headphones if you want. Handy if you want to rock the casbah. ;)

From: Cuzen Jeff
Date: 19-Jan-19

Have someone down load the album to the computer and then you can put it on a CD so you can listen in the car.

From: cobra
Date: 20-Jan-19

That was a lot of entertainment for $1.00!
