youtube.com also has many videos on Henry's bows. Bodnik is going to be making the new LaClair Shrew as well.

I have 2 - 60" Slick Stick, and a 64" Black Forest. Well made, with a matte finish. They are light, solid, and smooth. They have good zip on 9-10.5 gpp arrows. I like them both a lot. Really good production bows.

One I shot was extremely light in the hand. Need a bit more weight in the riser.IMO.

I have the Bodnik Super Quick Stick, 62” and absolutely love this bow. The workmanship is outstanding. It is very quick and stable. The grip fits my hand perfectly. I have owned many bows ranging from Howard Hills to Blacktails but the Super Quick Stick is my all time favorite.

Great bows, really like my Super Slick Stick. It is very light but I've gotten use to that and now like it. Mine is 58" and I've drawn it to 30 inches with no stack (normally draw a bit over 29), smooth draw, fast and much more accurate than my capabilities.

Swampwalker, I totally agree. I got one and gave it away because it was way to light in the hand.

Ok Ralph, here's a pic of mine. Bodnik Super Slick Stick, bamboo core, two carbon lams topped off with two bamboo lams and clear glass. And it lives up to its name. Forgot to mention the riser wood is Black Forest Olive.
Looks good, shoots good and excellent craftsmanship. Yes I like it.

Is there any apparent performance difference between the slick and super slick sticks? Steve

Yes. I had two Slick Sticks before this one at heavier poundage and they shot well but can't hold a candle to the Super and it's 5#'s lighter draw weight. But that comes with a price unfortunately:-). I think a couple hundred more.

Thanks for the information I appreciate it. I'm not necessarily planning on ordering one, but I was considering swapping for a regular slick stick. When I heard reference of a fast production bow with a 30-year warranty, my attention got sparked. Steve

I spent a week with Henry Bodnik up at ShrewHaven, while he was hammering out the final details with Ron LaClair regarding the Shrew bows.
I shot his bows extensively during that week, both his SlickStik's and the Shrew prototypes. What I took from that week is that Henry Bodnik knows how to design a bow. The quality is superb, the bows were all excellent shooters, and easy to quiet (I am weird about bow noise, very picky).
Henry will be in the Shrew booth at Kalamazoo this year, he is an excellent guy to spend some time with.

I see that Grizz is drawing one to 30"
Is anyone else doing that, and if so, how's it working out?
Where I am, you can't "try before you buy", and with a 30" draw, it would be sad to order one, then find that it didn't work out.

I have a near 30” draw.
I have a Bearpaw /Bodnik Slick Stick. It is a custom made “ standard” bow. Same simple walnut riser . Same bamboo limbs as the standards. The “ custom” aspect of my Slick Stick is that it is 64” amo., and was draw weight was set at 45#@30”.
I emailed Bearpaw, and asked if this bow could be built, and what the price would be. I received a reply directly from Henry Bodnik, stating “ yes”. I’m not sure if they still will do this, but the price was similar to the standard Slick Stick- I just had to pay freight from Germany ( about $35-40 3-4 years ago).
I coildn’t be happier with the bow. Quick, quiet, smooth drawing to 30”, no hand shock. It’s a great bow. I was VERY satisfied with the customer service from Bearpaw, and particularly with Henry Bodnik getting involved. 30 year warranty too.
You may want to shoot them an email to see if they will still make a 64” Slick Stick.
I came across another post on leatherwall that mentioned a similar 64” amo hybrid long/flatbow made by Timbercreek, called the Cottonmouth 2 ( made in England). Bamboo limbs. Cost is 295 British pounds + about $35 shipping from England ( to Maine). https://www.bing.com/videos/search? q=timber+creek+copperhead+2+bow&&view=detail&mid=9ECD0BE348CDAB0E 95269ECD0BE348CDAB0E9526&&FORM=VRDGAR
Lancaster Archery has a 62” amo Galaxy Black Ridge hybrid flatbow for $190. Looks interesting. http://www.lancasterarchery.com/galaxy-black-ridge-62-hybrid-longbow.html

Thanks, I have been looking at the Dakota, online, for a while.
Seems to me that they older Dakotas had black glass limbs and walnut risers.
The latest clear glass and bubinga version did get my attention.
I would be interested to hear from any owners how the finish of the Bearpaw clear glass limbs holds up. I am curious about this because I have read some complaints about recent clear glass limbs, concerning OTHER makers (not Bearpaw).

Riverwolf, I believe the Bodnik Longbow is different from the Bearpaw Penthalon Blackfoot Longbow. The Bodnik Longbow with 30-yr warranty is marketed to tournament shooters and is more expensive. The less-expensive Penthalon series bows are made in China for Bearpaw and carry a 2-year warranty. I'm not saying the workmanship is any different. The place of manufacture probably makes the price difference. I've thought about getting the Blackfoot myself. I wonder if you can get a longbow safely shipped from Europe all the way to US in a cardboard box? Clint
