I can only speak for 48" EXPRESS version as that was one of the first bow that I owned. it is one of the ONLY TWO bows I've sold, and I do not own it anymore (for a good reason).
so I' will say that I don't know how the newer 52" shoots.
with that said.
tecum-tha IS correct. (if comparing the Bodnik Horsebow Express to AF Bow or Ali-bow of similar size). Ali-bow/AF bows are MUCH MUCH BETTER quality as far as Modern interpretation of Asiatic bows are concerned.
The asiatic bows from Ali-bow or AF bow (I have both) are have more power behind them. The recurve is MUCH more aggressive, the string groove/nock on the limbs are about 3 inches in front of the bow when unstrung. Pulling back on the string, you immediately feel the strong presence of pre-loading. it is already in high tension at the brace.
whereas horsebow express was basically very very gentle reflex/deflex style when unstrung, the string grooves were basically in line with the handle on the both ends. no silah to speak of.
Bodnik horsebow express was fun to shoot, but it felt very weak pulling back, until it all the sudden hit a wall around 27". it really wasn't under strong tension at the brace, at least not as much as asiatic bows from ali/af.
IF bodnik has improved on their design, you may have good luck with it. I'd look at their unstrung profile first. if they are as straight as the EXPRESS used to be, I'd go with Ali/AF instead.
