I was hustling home from dropping one of the boys off for an overnight and got pulled over for rolling through a stop... which somehow my brain processed as a Yield.

Dead

To

Rights.

Flashlight in the back seat.... saw my younger son’s BQ full of home-made cedars w/ natural barred feathers (courtesy of one of the guys here!).

Lucky me - the officer was apparently a Bowhunter. Asked me what I was shooting. Let me off with a caution.

Phew!

I guess he just took one look at the size of me and decided to let the little one walk!

Must’ve been some Christmas Spirit involved, because I just plain screwed up.

Drive safe, fellas - you don’t run into a guy that forgiving very often!!!

Years ago I had the siren come on and was pulled over. I'm the only one on the highway. Four AM and I'm driving to my favorite gobbler hunting area minding my own business. The State Policeman walks up and says he's doing random checks. My drivers license was back at camp in my other pants. He shined the flashlight in the back seat and seen the recurve. We start talking about bowhunting and tells me he had just published a hunting story for Bowhunter magazine. Wishes me luck and drives off, what was the chances? This was before they could check everything on their computer from your license.

I had a warden pull me over. He said he knew I was hunting. I said no I wasn't hunting not yet anyways. He asked to see my licence and yes I had my gun cased. My dog was on back seat in my truck.

He reached in and grabbed my gun laying on floor and said good you have cased. I said now what will you do check my gun for shells or a plug when its a double.

Yes he said.LOL

As he was checking gun I said let me go I am late. The dog dumped on back set because she was ready to go. I said now you clean it up I was so ticked off at him. I said that's the least you could do.

He said I'm sorry we had reports of Pa. truck that fits your description. I said that's BS you just thought you were doing your job. He said yes aren't you glad I am?

I said means nothing to me other than now you made a mess I have to clean up! I have others waiting for me with my dog.

Even a yield sign your supposed to stop and not just roll through aren't we.

Many go right through them and crash.

There have been 143 officers killed this year in the line of duty. There will be many spouces and children without a parent this Christmas because of a simple traffic stop. Sometimes cops can seem kinda strange when they stop you but every stop is a possible life threatening situation. Most of us are good guys but most all of us will write a ticket to a smart mouth. Haha

I respect the thin BLUE line!

I was coming home from a hunt several years ago that was a 6 hour drive, one way... Yep, you guess it I was in a hurry. Texas State Trooper pulled me over, I had no excuse at least a good one. He approached my truck very cautiously, as he looked in he noticed my recurve riding shotgun.

I don't think he ever mentioned my speedy driving, our conversation was strictly bowhunting. He told me that he wish he had slept in instead of going hunting that morning. Then he asked me how my hunt went, when I told him that I got a turkey and a hog with my recurve we were talking on the side of the road for a half hour.

God Bless our law enforcement officers and especially that DPS Officer :)

I was 19 in the back of my girlfriend now wife's neighborhood is a playground with a creek behind it her little brother came & got me said it was a racoon in the creek & another coon was eating it so I investigated & sure enough 2 very sick coons by a children's playground. called the animal warden & waited for several hours finally got tired of waiting went home got a .22 rifle dispatched the coons put in trash bags & disposed of them a few hours later 2 Fairfax county police officers showed up looking for the coons & I explained what I had done & they proceeded to escort me to jail for the night for discharging a firearm in Fairfax county. the next morning the magistrate apologized & released me after hearing my story but it made the night sleeping on a concrete bed no more comfortable
