Hello, fellow Traditional Archers....

"Strictly Sticks Traditional Archers" next 3D shoot will be Sunday, December 16, 2018, at the East Huntingdon Sportsmens Association club in Alverton, Westmoreland County, Southwestern PA. AND NOTE: THERE ARE NO MAJOR HUNTING SCHEDULE CONFLICTS!!!!

As this is the second shoot of the Winter 2018-2019 schedule, and the shoot normally associated with the Christmas Season, we'd like to invite all of our faithful friends and attendees, AND make a special invitation to those of you who may be new to Traditional Archery, and would like to meet some great folks and shoot a round (or two) of the area's most interesting Traditional group!!

The Crew, as usual, cannot control the weather.... though we have tried. But, we've found that, especially for "Sticks", sometimes the weather we think is going to keep folks away turns out to be the best-attended shoot we've had. As long as the roads are safe, FOR EVERYONE, and the local township and state officials haven't shut roads down, we try to set up a course that can be called fun, challenging, and sometimes "evil"!!!

But as any attendee knows, once you are at "Sticks", it's up to YOU to make the shoot what you want it to be. Yes, we place shooting stakes on the course. But, if you are new to Traditional Archery, and are not yet comfortable shooting "from the stake", then YOU decide your comfort-shot-range. No one is going to kick you off the course, and no one is going to negate a score card! ("Score Card"???!!!!!!)

"Sticks" simply wants folks to have fun with their recurves, longbows, or selfbows. Matters not what kind of arrow you use; all we ask is "no broadheads"....

The course will be open from 8 AM until 1 PM. If your time schedule is open and relaxed, we invite you to shoot the course as many times as you wish, especially if you've been invited to shoot with various groups of friends. And if you are attending by yourself, feel free to introduce yourself. No doubt you'll be invited to join a party heading out.

Logistics: we'll base the course on conditions of the club property the day of set up, anticipating the day of the shoot. We do our best to NOT repeat the same course over and over; we try to offer a course that covers the greatest variety of actual Archery hunting conditions. (Translation: we may set up on both sides of Nuclear Creek....)

So, gather up your arrows. Tell those friends who've been asking about Traditional Archery, come down from the mountains, or cross from the plains and the cities.

To a place 45 miles or so southeast of Pittsburgh. Where Archers gather and arrows are flung! Come join us, at "Strictly Sticks Traditional Archers 3D", Sunday, December 16!

And, THANK YOU! from The Crew!

And here's how to get to "Sticks"...

Will AR's be enforced???

I heard it is a protected Dink zone!

Archers who don't follow all current rules and regs (like the person writing this would actually know....!) will be required to sacrifice ONE arrow into Nuclear Creek, and watch it dissolve before their eyes. How's THAT for enforcement???!!!!!!

Sounds like a great warmup before the late archery/flintlock season coming up. I'm gonna try to make it.

Sounds good Randy, looking forward to the shoot.

Glad you posted here. Either it wasn’t posted here last month or I missed the posting. Our gang will be there for this one.

Hoping to bring myself and hopefully a few others to this shoot. Thanks Randy!

I’ll try to make this one Randy, if you put close stakes in for the traditionally challenged

It sounds like a great event.

I know from experience that setting a course if the winter, especially if there's any appreciable snow can be challenging.

Sure sounds like something I'd attend if I lived closer; good luck with the shoot!

It would be great to see you again ”longbowdave”,hope you can make it.

stickhunter: I didn't post on the Leatherwall, but on the PA Bowsite part of this website. Last month was pretty "iffy" up to the last moment, and we didn't want to "over promise" and not live up to our standards....

Supernaut: I'll introduce you to a bunch of the folks who post here. They are all GREAT people!

longbowdave: it sure would be great to see ya again. It's been a couple years now, and that's TOO long!

Yamaha YG68: here's what to do: on the morning of Sunday, December 16, go outside with your YG68. Set up a target, oh, about 17 yards away. BUT, put it almost totally behind a tree stump, or only visible behind the "V" of a tree. Then, either shoot between the "V", or go for the visible part of the target behind the stump. Get some friends gathered with you. And just shoot to have fun. You'll be shooting with us in spirit!

banjo: behave this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Bushytail: yeppers, many folks use this shoot for a little "late season" warm up and practice. We'll do what we can to make the shots....realistic, and/or...interesting!!!

Sounds like a plan!

I can do this on our club's new 3D course that we're in the process of re-establishing, won't have the kitchen and trade table etc. ;)

But its 12 minute drive away.

Again, hope the event goes well, enjoy!

The Crew of Strictly Sticks would like to offer a hearty "THANK YOU!" to the 43 registered Archers who traversed from all over Western Pennsylvania, to a little village in Westmoreland County called Alverton, during a weekend-long rain event, just to shoot their stickbows!

And it was great to meet some of the folks who post here to the Leatherwall! Thank you for introducing yourselves!

We tried to present to you a 3D course worthy of your time and efforts, and, honestly, we think we did OK!

We can honestly say that the Traditional Archers WE know seem to be the heartiest of folks, who don't let a near-continuous misty rain literally dampen the Spirit of the shoot!

The Crew hope you enjoyed yourselves, and that we will be under your consideration for our future 3D shoots!

Our Sincere THANKS to all of you!

The Crew of "Strictly Sticks Traditional Archers", Alverton, Pennsylvania

A BIG THANKS to the crew at Strictly Sticks! The course was a blast and a little rain never hurt anyone. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks Randy and by the way, your hat was awesome!

Nice coarse for sure, first time I’ve been there. Missed you supernaut, I got there later.

Howdy Dave, sorry I missed you. We were there at 8 am and I think the first ones out there. We weren't able to stick around long after we shot but hopefully I'll catch up with you the next shoot. Challenging target placement for sure and I didn't lose an arrow to the metal wolf at the end so that was a bonus!

Yet again another great shoot at STICKS! Thanks Randy and the crew. See you next month!

Supernaut, yes, give yourselves a little extra time for the next shoot. You would have met a whole bunch of Leatherwall and PA Bowsite folks, who rolled in while your crew was out on the course. (Goodness knows the 2 weekends before the Day of Christmas are quite busy for everyone!) Ah, but there will be a next time, and probably a few more after that. Soon enough, you'll be one of the regulars, and you'll know everyone to see them!

Longbowdave: Bernie, Sue, and "Banjo" Scott wanted to thank you for all of you shooting together! I took to the course during a slowdown at the reg. table with the Maple Mountain Men and their Guardian, and finished shortly before you arrived. TradFreak gave his dad (Banjo) a call to let him know you were there. Consider yourself having an open invitation to join us ANYTIME!

Bobby: did I miss some cool wool??!!! I know I filled my closet last month with articles from you!!!

HAHA Bobby! See you on the 30th. I saw that classic Fred Bear wool and HAD to have it! And next shoot we wont rush out.

From: Supernaut

The only bad thing about shooting with Wojo....He NEVER misses LOL. He did light up like a kid at Christmas when he saw that shirt Bobby. Next time I'll stick around and meet the "normal" folk although I might not fit in as I'm a little shy of normal.

You will fit in just fine! And I do miss!
