Does anybody know if the riser from an old Lynx can be adapted to bolt-on lImbs or warfed for ILFs?

I saw a recurve/e-wheel model for sale at the same price I paid for mine - used, with cams - in about 1985 or ‘86....

Was thinking it could be fun to have.... at about 1/4 or 1/5 of the asking price....

If it's similar to the Cougar Mag, Sam Dunham told me they could used. I thought of just getting Sage limbs but haven't made up my mind yet for the one I have.

My uncle passed and left me his old Lynx, I had it warfed and it turned out to be an excellent shooter. Have it warfed, you'll love it.

Martin actually did make a Lynx recurve using the same riser as the Lynx compound.

It uses the same limbs as the Martin Firecat recurve, which also uses the Firecat compound riser.

If you have the riser, and can find a set of Martin Firecat or Lynx recurve limbs, then you're golden.

Those factory limbs have an added on limb butt plate/wedge giving them a different take off angle, but you can easily make other bolt down limbs work just fine on them, and if you have a little bit of craftiness in you it isn't hard to make wedges to change the take off angle if needed.

Bottom line - they make dandy risers for takedown stickbows.

I have a couple that were warfed by loc. My favorite riser by far. Makes a great 21" ilf riser.

As a matter a fact, i picked up 2 more risers VERY cheap which i plan to have done up also.

If you watch Ebay at all, you can find entire compound bows for sell...older models, that will make great frankenbows or warf, ILF bows. I think I paid $32.99 for my Martin Cougar Mag and that was including shipping. Compound shooters consider them obsolete so they are generally cheap.

I always keep an eye out for them cause at my age I may need it one of these days. Been actually looking for a vintage Jennings Black Lightning. It has the smaller riser of the old Sidekick and solid glass split limbs. Would make a great combination.

Here I was thinking Toelke Lynx and I was excited to hear somebody converted one to an ILF, if I every see a Toelke Lynx riser only for sale reasonably, I may try it! Love that locator grip so much, I'd marry it if I could!

My old Cougar Magnum has the ball bearing pivots and would likely take the Lynx recurve limbs. Find the Lynx recurve limbs is more of an issue though.

Man, I coveted a Cougar Mag for years.... probably the #1 reason I went with a Howatt Hunter when I gave up on wheels back in ‘90...

What’s a reasonable price for one, do you guys think? Not $150, I can tell you that....

Here is my Firecat compound converted to a recurve. Limbs are from Martin. Larry found them in their warehouse.
