I was just sharing some information on here during the night and I got a great feeling about how freely we share information here. We discuss with some of the very best minds in Traditional Archery. We know, without having met, people who will be our lifelong friends even if we never meet. We meet and do things together. We do not see each other or talk for long periods of time and then away we go again like nothing ever changed. We lament the loss of good friends like Jim. We wonder about the health of Sixby. We contact Billy Shipp to make sure he is okay and we learn about how he and his buddy shot a grizzly when it was attacking them and then went to court to clear their name, when they were set up for money. We get the wisdom of Larry Hatfield and then learn about how a guy in his 80's is risking his life in far off lands to give others a chance to grow old without being maimed. And most of all we share stories about our successes and our failures, and our accomplishments, and our troubles. And that my friends is all I have to say about that for now. Your turn and then I will respond, eh.

Okay I waited the usual couple of minutes and since nobody else posted I guess I will continue. Some people to thank that have shared information, traded with me, and bought things from and for me. Shandor for buying a bow I quit bidding on because he thought I should have it, and buying my 1962 K Mag, the bow I will one day kill a large moose with at 9 feet. Dan Banting for sharing the story of killing his moose at 9 feet so I know I can do that. Rooty for sending a simple message, I miss my archery buddy. Chad for sending money he did not have when I needed some. Feliciano for continuing to buy me to come to Italy until I will in January. Sandy aka codjigger for sharing a Scotch whiskey with me and telling half truths, then trading me some stuff for a bow. Things like the 1995 Hunter I passed along to a new hunter, the knife I will give to my young friend from the Rock, and the cash I spent foolishly. Brandon Stahl for building me the 63 inch ACE NO. 3 only after building No.1 and 2 to make sure he made weight on mine. Larry Hatfield for saying the Venom is the best longbow design he did so I bought one, and then passed it along for someone else to enjoy. Sixby for sharing his knowledge of Static Tips, neither recurve nor longbow really. Actually kind of a Super Curve I guess the way Jon Gharing or Abe Penner does them, or Kevin Ter Mat. All those good folks who sold me bows and bought bows from me, so many bows, so few years left. Caley for selling me those first two knives and then building me a bunch more. All of you who stuck up for me when I pulled a stupid one and did not have money to pay for something I bought. Rob Nye for reminding me that Northern Saskatchewan is the place I should be. Dr. Jay Kidwell for telling me he spends about half his time just fooling around with new ideas. Liquid Tension for reminding me that form is not the thing, it is the only thing, and sorting out for me my form issue with shooting 3D at times. And that my friends is all I know about that for now, eh.

For the new folks you will have to sort out our usernames. For example, why do I use Camodave and yet sign DDave (aka Double D) when I am losing my man boobs daily. We talk on here but we private message and we email and we talk on the phone and we shoot together and we visit each other. Never called a bowyer who would not talk to me. Called Alan and he knew Norm would want to talk to me and put the call through. Talked to Ann Windauer and she put Dave, who I forgot to mention, on the line. That crazy old Dick Robertson guy explained to me that the reason his kids names all begin with Y is because every time she got pregnant his lovely wife said, Dick why. Who names their kid Yote anyway. And Dick told me why he quit making Pierce Point bows so I know the ones on eBay are a real prize. And now I will shut up and let someone else like Frisky speak up. Or Mr. Stout. Or Ron LeClair.

Great Comments and Indeed the Leatherwall is Special...4finger

Most of the great archers who paved the way in the recent past remain nameless. The majority made their living outside of archery and their passion was simplicity and challenge with their bows, arrows and hunting methods. Their trails are literally in the woods, mountains and prairies where they will forever remain undiscovered by the internet, hero seekers, and fake news Journalists. I am glad I am old enough to have experienced bowhunting as it was meant to be. The leatherwall is good, and helps preserve a little of the past.

Nice comments, Dave. It is special. I've enjoyed my time here. I hoped I've helped a few people make bows. Jawge

Great post Dave. I'm new to the leather wall and trad (less than a year) and have talked with and gotten advice from some great people here. I hope to shake hands with some of them this year at shoots but even if I don't get to meet them in person I can honestly say I'm happy to know them.

Dave that was a great post. I have made good trades, done bow work for a lot of good folks, and met many new friends on the LW. I hate to name names, invariable I leave someone out. I have to call out Codjigger. He has been a good friend for a long time. I appreciate all the letters, pictures and things he has sent to me. Right now he is recouping and regrouping. Take care friend and bounce back. You can't keep a good man down. >>>>-----> Ken
